Foud they a fairly thin but told they cook as good as a Yoder and cheaper to run as will use less pellets to warm up and cook ?? This cooker has 447 square inches of cooking space, but the most amazing part is the features that make it amazing. It contains an insulated design that keeps the heat and the charcoal flavor inside, and the ventilation system lets out just enough smoke to keep all those amazing flavors inside. It is made from a tubular steel construction for durability and to withstand the high temperatures. The lid locks as well to keep prying hands from opening the smoker until you stop cooking.

Mar 17, 2018 | DIY & Projects On balance, gas is probably the better choice if you favor no-fuss cooking or grill often (and especially if you grill on weeknights, when time is at a premium). If you’re an occasional griller or you enjoy getting hands-on with your cooking, charcoal is an economical choice that, with a bit of practice, produces great results.
8.79 As soon as you talked about a Boston Whaler…I knew I had to have this ! This cast aluminum grill is a capsule that is user-friendly with air intake controls. You can easily get the smoked meat you want since you can cook with either a hot and fast option or a low and slow option. The cooker is rust proof for outdoor use, portable, and the temperature management is easy enough for anyone to use. Even for long periods of time, this cooker holds the heat in to cook your meat to perfection.
No surprises this was Our Top Pellet Smoker Pick. Portable, powerful, advanced and easy to use. And that’s without mentioning the consistent grilling temperature, the controls and the automatic pellet feed. Clear winner for not much money.
Post Page First, I don't buy a $70 smoker grill and expect to get a $600 Weber. That said, this grill is sturdier than I expected. I've had more expensive grills that were significantly flimsier. The grill is also much tighter than I expected. No, it is nowhere near airtight. But, it is not a smoker; it is a smoker grill. Many reviews suggest the writer doesn't know there is a difference. The side firebox works great to smoke food with indirect heat and the grill holds temperature fairly well. By that, I mean heat loss occurs steadily, but somewhat quickly, as the fuel source burns down. This is a small grill, which, depending on your needs, is a plus or minus. It is great for 1 - 4 people. It just fit 2 racks of uncooked pork ribs, or 8 large hamburgers. The one big negative is the thermometer. While I have never had a grill which had an accurate built-in thermometer - including Webers - this one is almost useless. After 6 hours of smoking, keeping track of the temperature by the grill's thermometer, the ribs were still mostly uncooked. I tested the thermometer by hanging a remote control grilling thermometer's probe down the chimney so that it was suspended in the cooking chamber. I know this thermometer to be accurate and it recorded temperatures as much as 100 degrees below the temperature shown on the grill's thermometer. Despite its temperature probe, I suspect the grill's thermometer is picking up a lot of heat from the lid itself. So, to sum it up, it's no gold standard grill, but it is better than the price would suggest. It's small, it smokes great, but DON'T rely on its thermometer!
2 cups of wood chips These burners cover a wide area, measuring around 1000 square inches, providing the users with a large cooking space. It brings a good cooking experience to the users, and is one of the most sought built-in gas grills in the market.
Moreover, with a total cooking area of 460 sq. in., you will definitely be somewhat limited, but again, this is still an improvement over the Char-Broil. Wi-Fi control – Pellet grills use electronic circuit boards, which means they can feature a lot more functionalities to facilitate the outdoor experience. Wi-Fi control is already being included in pellet grills, such as in the Green Mountain Grill and Davy Crockett Pellet Grill.
Grilling 101: Grilling in Small Spaces & on the Go 4 Electric Smokers I had the Char-Broil infrared system in an older grill that we just had to give away(due to a move – the grill lasted a good long while and was still in good shape).

Follow Barb R. Thank you for all of the great reviews! However, the 8500 is definitely not as good of a gas smoker as the Oklahoma Joe’s with the primary burners only putting out 10,000 BTUs.

Laptops Hey Greg! Sorry so long for my reply. Man, so cool about your Yoder! I’m sure you’ll love it. Everyone I talk to who owns one loves theirs. I agree 100 Percent on pellet quality and cook time. I’ve had luck cooking at lower initial temps and ramping up after the first couple of hour. I’ve also used the A-Maze-N Tube with success.

If you’re gonna set it and leave it to do the magic, you’re going to have to be careful, too. A major contributor to how long you can leave a smoker is how many wood pellets the pellet hopper holds. Pellet smokers run the gamut in how much fuel they use per hour, with anywhere from half a pound to two pounds of pellets being standard. Always check how much the model you’re looking at holds, and make sure that it’s going to last long enough, especially if you plan on leaving your smoker to cook whilst you do other things, especially if you’re going away from home. It’s simple math, and better that than coming home to a bunch of chargrilled ashes.

You really have to assess the different types of smokers to ensure that you choose the right one for you. Electric, gas, charcoal and pellet smokers all have their own sets of advantages and disadvantages, and looking at these things will help you choose the one that is best for your own needs. Some prefer the charcoal taste of a charcoal grill, while others prefer the convenience and ease of use that goes along with a gas model. Many prefer electric because of how simple they are to set up and use or are only able to have electric smokers due to where they live. Regardless, assessing each different type will help you make the right decision.
