Digital Grill We loved the remote. It is things like this that make modern grilling such a great experience. It is not just an on off either, it does everything you would want it to, and well. All the temperature controls work, the timer is incredibly useful and will save many a burned burger, turning the smoker on and off at a distance is hugely useful, especially when combined with the wood chip loading system, makes you get an unprecedented level of control over not just your smoky flavors but how you want your meat done (rare for me!).
Yelp WiFi It’s got built in manual controls, but there’s also the option to download an app to your phone so you can control your smoker through your wifi! Honestly, this really impressed me, and I don’t know why other manufacturers aren’t all over this. Apparently there’s a cloud based app coming out soon so you can control your grill anywhere you can get internet, so you could be sitting at your kids football game whilst checking the status of your post-victory feast! The controls are also fully programmable, so you could for example set it to smoke for 5 hours and then cook for 2, finishing just as you pull up onto your drive.
Go Hey Ben – thank you for your comment. From a retail user standpoint, I think you’d be happy with either a Yoder or FEC. I really like the PG 500 for the purpose that you’re looking at. Best of both worlds it seems the more I’m looking at it. You can see how they approach grilling steaks in this video. You can incorporate the use of GrillGrates in either pellet grill. Both companies make their units in the USA. Both have great reputations. I’m just partial to Cookshack’s pellet smokers over Yoder as I know more folks who use them.

February 18, 2017 Cuisine Large Big Green Egg – $700-$900 Porcelain-coated grates. I have to agree with some of the previous reviews that the place isn't as good as it was. Been here quite a few times and it was always good. Today, was a different story. Took forever to get drinks. I chalked that up to it being very busy, which I thought was a good sign. The pulled pork egg rolls we ordered as appetizers were really bad. The few pieces of pulled pork that were inside tasted like they've been around for a few weeks. And the rolls themselves were chewy and greasy. The coleslaw that came with it as garnish tasted like it came out of a cooler that lost its power a while back. The dish was so bad we decided to call it a day right there. What a shame. This used to be one of my favorite barbecue places
