I tried to pick the kind of models that would suit plenty of people. Thanks to that website, you can choose a good pellet smoker according to your needs. Rec-Tec has a strong following, and – as with the rest of the pellet grills in this review, will do you right. They’ve recently gone to an all black (no more red) look with their newer models. Though, you can probably still get the red. They have the most pellet holding capacity of any other grills pretty much, so that might be a plus for you. Getting temps back down is pretty fast… 5-10 minutes or so. I’d consider reverse searing, so long as your steaks are 1 and 1/2 inches or more. Thinner cuts won’t work. So, basically – you get the steak up to around 125-35 at around 225-250 F. Wrap it in foil. Then, crank your heat up to the highest setting, remove your steak from the foil, and sear it off on both sides to your desired doneness level. This limits the amount of grey – making for a more uniform pink from the top to the bottom of the steak.
Heat and Smoke Control Ice Makers Gas grills are great for several reasons. They make friend and family gatherings memorable, are great gifts, and you don’t have to worry about handling dirty charcoal or cleaning up leftover ash! Not to mention that gas grills heat up faster than other types.

Getting the BBQ Grill Light to fit on the handle of my trusty Char-Broil patio grill was easy. Just unscrew the nut to open up some space, place it on the handle, and screw the nut back down again. Be careful not to over-tighten it.

$699.99 That said, charcoal grills have several upsides. Charcoal burns hotter than gas, so you can get a superior sear on burgers and steaks. You can buy an exceptional, do-everything charcoal grill for $150; gas grills start at around $200, and you’ll spend at least twice that on a really good one. Lastly, there’s the romance factor: For some people, it’s more fun to play with fire than to twiddle a few knobs.
As for smoke flavor, it seem a lot of it comes down to pellet quality, & cooking time. One of the things that one buddy added that he says work well is 12″ A-Maze-N tube. He gets about 4 hours of heavy smoke and puts it in at the start of the smoke.

The Difference Between Smoking & Grilling Enough cooking space Looking for a pellet grill to do all sorts of cooking with. I am between a Rec Tec, Camp Chef Woodwind, Gorilla and Yoder. Steaks, burgers, chicken, ribs, brisket, vegetables, etc. All in one. And want to have the option to sear meat, veggies as well. Ive seen so many different reviews my head is spinning. My budget is $700-$1,000 but willing to go up if necessary. I hear some can sear, some take too long to heat up, some dont hold the temp consistently. I am a low maintenance so ease of use important. Does not have to be portable.

Check propane BBQ grills regularly to make sure tubing is not perished or split. Always turn the supply off at the tank when you're finished cooking.
$31.99 One other aspect you might want to consider is whether you want a removable lid, or a model with a hinged lid. It seems like it would be a pain to have to find a place to put a removable lid that’s super hot from a unit that is in use, but that’s my own personal opinion.
Grilling is a popular activity year 'round and there is no shortage of professional testing and expert roundups of grills -- more for gas than charcoal models, though. Consumer Reports and OutdoorGearLab are good resources in our search for the best gas grill because they have a comprehensive testing-and-ranking protocol. Wirecutter, Reviewed and Cook's Illustrated test both gas and charcoal grills, but very few other sites do. We also turned to expert reviews by the barbecue professionals and enthusiasts at AmazingRibs.com.

Cooking racks Weber and Cuisinart are the best. We have one made by Weber and it has been long lasting. They are not that that easy to use but if you are a purist, you would prefer to have your food with a true wood-fired taste rather than being simply seared over a gas flame. And by the way, its doubles up as a heater and we often sit around it in the winter time. Also, I’d like to add, that the little snippet about Henry Ford being one of the pioneers of briquets is really fantastic!!
Manufacturers tout the number of BTUs (British thermal units) their grills can produce, but that number can be very misleading. BTUs don't indicate the amount of useful cooking heat a grill can generate; they just tell you how much fuel it burns. Naturally, larger grills with more burners will burn more fuel. Heat flux—that's BTUs per square inch—is a much more useful indicator of a grill's searing power, and is something the manufacturers never tell you. We've calculated heat flux for you here and in the extensive searchable equipment review database at AmazingRibs.com. Typical flux for a gas grill is around 85 BTUs per square inch.
This product is not awful. It's just that it could've been much better. I've kept it because I cook for one and a little extra time cooking doesn't bother. (And that, by the way, is the grill's strongest attraction - cooking for one). But to those considering purchasing this: don't expect your efforts to produce the same product you might get from a larger grill. It won't happen. What you save in charcoal and start-up time, you lose in cooking time and flavor. And, I don't believe the alternatives (competitors) would perform any better unless their grates are of heavier material to offer better conduction and radiation.
