This makes it worthy of the high price being charged for it. 4 cubic feet of cooking space: Unless you’re cooking for commercial purposes, you’ll probably find the amount of cooking space more than sufficient. 6 Best Portable Gas Grills for Camping & Tailgating (2018 Review) Amazon Currency Converter George Foreman GRP4842MB Elec Multi-Plate, Portable, Waffle plates, Ceramic plates, 3-in-1, 500 Searing Burst 3 Year 4.1/5 $ Check Price This smoker offers a massive 560 cubic inches of grilling area with a large-capacity pellet hopper. Even though it’s the perfect starter grill, it’s still packed with plenty of extras that even the pro chefs will enjoy. If the grilling space isn’t enough, the removable upper racks can be turned into extra cooking space. The smoke stack behind the unit can also be converted into a prep area. Anything metal has a high risk of rusting. Regular maintenance, such as oiling, however, can dramatically lower these risks. Finding a smoker that’s been properly and thoroughly treated also cuts down on the risk. It’s untreated materials like screws and gaps in the construction that lead to premature rusting. Thoroughly cleaning your grill after each and every use also cuts down on rust. A number of the smokers we reviewed appeared to have significant rust issues, but these rust spots almost always seemed to originate at places where moisture gathers during cooking, which indicates poor maintenance on the part of the user. Small Badge Full Badge Hey Shannon – they all have their merits. Budget dictates a lot. If you’re in the $1000 or under range, Green Mountain and Rec Tec are great choices. Both have developed near cult followings, with GMG a little ahead of the curve on that front having been around a bit longer. I love the Yoders as far as moving up on the price range is concerned. Will last you forever and they offer a solid product with great support. MAK grills are just beautifully made. There’s no other way to put it. The “General” models are superbly crafted. Love that MAK offers built in cold smoking as a capability. Am I helping here or just making things worse? Hahaha. We put popular gas grills through a battery of tests in our labs and backyards. We tested preheat speeds, recorded temperature distribution, measured assembly time, and checked the built-in temperature gauges for accuracy. Now we've analyzed the data, and we can say with certainty that each of these grills offers something for everyone, including our favorite Napoleon Rogue 425 in Stainless (available at AJ Madison for $899.00). Have a smoke hollow smoker (lp) that works awesome, a cheap charbroil gril, and a holland I picked up used. Tried the holland because I got tired of flareups but it is slow, a coffee can over the stacks until it warms up helps but you don’t want to walk away from it that way. I like the idea of something you don’t have to baby sit. Any reviews on the traeger grills? I like the looks of the traeger jr, has nice features, portable and enough room for most of the things I want. Also are these grills affected by wind and do they work in cold weather? I live in ND and like to use them in the winter as long as the temp is above 10 degrees or so. This product is not awful. It's just that it could've been much better. I've kept it because I cook for one and a little extra time cooking doesn't bother. (And that, by the way, is the grill's strongest attraction - cooking for one). But to those considering purchasing this: don't expect your efforts to produce the same product you might get from a larger grill. It won't happen. What you save in charcoal and start-up time, you lose in cooking time and flavor. And, I don't believe the alternatives (competitors) would perform any better unless their grates are of heavier material to offer better conduction and radiation. Nick T. It is undoubtedly a structure that will last for very long, if you have any doubts just check out the 10 year warranty on all the elements. A grill cover is the best way to extend your grill’s working life; Weber’s cover for the Spirit E-310 stood up to days of rain in our test. Pellet smokers are a dream come true for backyard cooks in love with smoked foods. They burn pure wood pellets made of compressed sawdust with no glues or binders, and they're thermostat-controlled, just like your indoor oven. In fact, they're often more accurate than your indoor oven. They allow you to load up your smoker at dawn, set it to 225°F, go to work, and come home to a feast of delicious meat that's been slow-smoking for hours at a steady and accurate temperature. Lauded for its amazingly accurate cook temperatures and times and for affording cookers a real “unfair advantage” at competitions (according to those who lose to them)  – Fast Eddy’s Cookshack Pellet Smokers rank among the very best available on the market today. I love the history of Fast Eddy’s pellet grills. In 1986, Ed Maurin (Fast Eddy) – a retired KCMO Fire Fighter – cooked his first American Royal event. From that point on he was hooked on BBQ and on coming up with the very best way to ensure its production. By 1998 the first of his Fast Eddy’s pellet smokers was released to the market, and he was off to winning competitions and helping those who bought his cookers do so as well. This was not just for Super Bowl Sunday, it was for every Sunday that football was on TV. This was a family tradition that I would never miss, starting from when I was 3, until this day. Every Sunday, I would wake up and clean up the grill and prep for Sunday football.
