“Purchase Laundry Magnet Exams US laundry magnets scam”

Not only are these magnets pure bullshit, but they are reminiscent of another laundry scam that was making the rounds of fairs and trade shows about 7 or 8 years ago. The fraudsters were selling a pair of plastic balls with little spikes or nubs on them. The balls were filled with a liquid that even the salesmen admitted was just water. They claimed, without really explaining how, that these balls were somehow able to clean your laundry without any soap, because they “made water wetter”. That was their tag line that they repeated over and over. They charged $75 for the set of 2 balls. I walked away without buying, and a few months later I read a scientific review of these balls conducted by Consumer Reports. For those unaware, CR is very reliable and reputable, and they do not accept any advertisements or other corporate money. They are completely independent. CR compared loads washed with only the “magic balls” and water with loads washed only in water, and loads washed the regular way with detergent and water. They also did many loads using each method, using actually human-worn clothing. Volunteers wore the clothes, and had CR wash them when they got dirty. I seem to recall they washed each dirty load 20 times, not in a row, but every time it became dirty, and did this with each method. The results were that the detergent-washed clothes were clean (quite predictably), from first wash to last wash. The water-only loads seemed fairly clean at first, but toward the end of the experiment, the researchers noticed that the laundry loads were starting to look gray, and the clothes were becoming a bit stinky. The most interesting part of this experiment is that the laundry loads washed with water and the $75 balls, turned out just the same way as the water-only loads: all right at first, but later dingy and smelly.

The claim of alkalization is dubious. While it is true that the alkaline agents in normal washing powders catalyze the tensides, there are no studies suggesting that the washing pearls would affect the pH of the water, especially for a duration of several thousand washes. The pH of water is not just some magical property: it is caused by ions dissolving in water; to affect the pH significantly, these “pearls” would have to dissolve quite a proportion of their material into the water, and if they could dissolve to that degree, you’d be lucky to get one wash, never mind a thousand.

The strength of a magnet is given by its magnetic flux density, which is measured in units of gauss. The earth’s magnetic field is on the order of 0.5 gauss (Marshall and Skitek 1987). Typical household refrigerator magnets have field strengths of about 1,000 gauss. According to the distributors, the magnets sold for water and fuel treatment have magnetic flux densities in the 2,000 to 4,000 gauss range, which is not unusually strong. Permanent magnets with flux densities in the 8,000 gauss range are readily available. The magnets sold for magnetic fuel and water treatment are nothing special; they are just ordinary magnets.
Many homeowners and businesses use water softeners to avoid the problems that result from hard water. Most water softeners remove problematic dissolved magnesium and calcium by passing water through a bed of “ion-exchange” beads. The beads are initially contacted with a concentrated salt (sodium chloride) solution to saturate the bead exchange sites with sodium ions. These ion-exchange sites have a greater affinity for calcium and magnesium, so when hard water is passed through the beads the calcium and magnesium ions are captured and sodium is released. The end result is that the calcium and magnesium ions in the hard water are replaced by sodium ions. Sodium salts do not readily form scale or soap scum, so the problems associated with hard water are avoided.
I ordered magnets, never saw them !!! as a bonus offer I directed delivery to my 75yr. Old mother. The second set at $10 cheaper. The package was supposed to contain 2 magnets for washing clothes. Ins…tead it was something like tennis balls. For $50 plus to return was a nightmare with customer service. My origional order was out of stock they claimed , but charged me for it ahead of time. I waited over 2 months , when it finally arrived I had already demanded my refund / so I returned it unopened ! Not wanting to waste time with customer service again. My mom shipped me the gift I sent her to send back at a cost of $15 , then I shipped it back at $15 so post office made $45 on this product offer of buy second set at a discount….they substituted another product to send my mom, causing total confusion & long distance to explain to her. My refund took another 30 days from my cancellation ! They use your money people !!! See More
I just read your site and feel equally duped…I ordered the magnets but have not received anything yet, nor have I been able to find any response from the company for about 10 days. This failure to respond got me concerned and I began to look into the company. I only found your site so far. Wow, fooled again hoping to reach beyond the norm.
Is there any rationale that the magnets can actually do something? Water is diamagnetic, which means that it will be repelled by a magnet. But the effect is very, very, small. If a vial of water is placed on a piece of floating Styrofoam and a strong magnet is brought close, it will slowly move away from the magnet. An interesting phenomenon, but nothing to do with cleaning ability. But there is something about the advertising for the laundry disks that is not contestable. They are guaranteed to last for fifty years, a guarantee that is indeed safe since magnets do not rot. That is more than what can be said about the claims of their miraculous cleaning properties.
Wish I knew this didn’t have handles on it when I bought it because it is a hefty thing to carry around. It is, however, very well built and sturdy. I don’t recommend buying this if your washer/dryer is a fair distance away from where you keep your hamper. Lucky for me I was able to add my own handlez to this with the help of a hot glue gun. Now that it has handles I love it!

Overall, if you are looking for an amazing new laundry system that works as an alternative to detergent, then Magnetic Laundry System by Water Liberty may be the right product for you. To order, visit the brand’s website today.

In contrast to the testimonials common to NCD [non-chemical devices] marketing literature, the many controlled studies undertaken by various government and industrial organizations have resulted in a consensus opinion that NCD are not capable of producing the effects claimed in the literature. In general, the theories advanced by the NCD suppliers to explain operation of their devices show a lack of agreement with accepted scientific principles. In spite of an extensive history of installation failures, findings of no effect in controlled studies, and no acceptable theory of operation; new NCD are accepted in the market on a routine basis, often obtaining significant sales before the inevitable disasters result in that particular device being discredited.

WaterLiberty, also sold as Adya Clarity, black mica extract, and mica water, has received some fairly harsh criticism from NaturalNews.com, who claims that the product, “has been imported into the country as “batter acid,” that is mined near Fukushima, Japan, that it “consists of metals (iron, aluminum, etc.) dissolved with sulfuric acid into a liquid form,” and that “It has been heavily marketed as a dietary supplement for internal consumption, along with completely unsubstantiated health claims.” In fact, the article even goes on to claim that “People who drink the product report symptoms such as black stuff coming out of their ears, and fingernails turning black.” However, we didn’t locate any third-party website that corroborated this condition.

I am also taking steps to communicate to this distributor so it never happens to another customer. If it does, their ability to sell our product will be jeopardized. Period. Our customers deserve our complete honor and respect.

*UPDATE 3/2/16* Please see comment in the comment section below for the complete update. In short, still using this, still loving it, but there have been a few items it did not work on. I think the odor is literally in the threads used to make it, and the odor won’t go away no matter what I’ve tried.

I dont know why I’m taking the to respond, have you used the magnets? I have for a year now and they work great!! I work in a dirty sweaty enviroment and my close come out clean as a whistle.. You don’t know what your talking about….

Suffering from back pain, insomnia, kidney stones, or any of about a dozen common ailments? It may be due to “pollution of your body by stray alternating current-induced magnetic fields.” If so, you need a {magnetic mattress} whose built-in permanent magnets provide healing “natural” (“direct current”) fields. Replete with results of “scientific” studies [unpublished, of course!] citing such gems as “62.35 – 98.94%” effectiveness rating (at “99% confidence level”) for relief of back pain. (It’s hard to get a laugh out of a class when I am discussing statistical treatment of data, but this should do the trick!)

I appreciate your comments. I also very much appreciate you taking the time to perform some experiments. The only thing negative I could say is that I do think you are overstating your feelings in some cases and letting that sorta get in the way of your research (which is pretty awesome). But all that being said, it IS your site and you can do that.

If you really wanted to “confirm the information posted above,” you could have asked me, and I could have provided you with copies of the on-line receipt for my order from Powerful Life, my credit-card statements showing when they charged me for shipping the product and for the product itself, the shipping label showing when they actually shipped it, and the USPS delivery confirmation record showing when it arrived at my house.

It’s a bit much to state that his work was “recognized”; IEEE simply published the conference proceedings. Kronenberg’s presentation can be found in IEEE Transactions on Magnetics, Vol MAG-21 (5) Sept 1985. The paper offers no evidence for magnetic water softening.

If particles are actually precipitated, it should be possible to observe them, either by direct collection in a micropore filter or indirectly by light-scattering methods (nephthelometry), but there are no apparent reports of this.

NO MORE PETROCHEMICALS! THE LAUNDRY SYSTEM CAN SAVE YOU A FORTUNE OVER TIME, ESPECIALLY AS OIL PRICES KEEP ACHIEVING NEW RECORD HIGHS…If you are freaking out over the shockingly high costs of detergents at the supermarket, we are going to let you in on a dirty little secret. Most people don’t know that laundry detergents are not soaps, they are actually petrochemicals derived from crude oil. As crude oil prices have rocketed to all-time highs, the expense to buy detergents has risen as well because the raw material to manufacture and transport detergents has increased. So not only are you feeling the pain at the pump, you are feeling the same pain in your supermarket’s detergent aisle. A gallon of gas may cost $4.00, but a gallon of detergent sells for as much as $17.00!

These devices, such as this one are promoted by hucksters such as “Dr.” Robert Beck and sold by the same outfits that flog food-energizers, chackra-checkers and other new-age paraphernalia. They generate short but highly intense magnetic fields that are supposed to cure everything from cancer to baldness. See here for one of Beck’s typical bloviations. Needless to say, there is no credible scientific evidence to support these outlandish claims. But if you have a sick horse, give this one a try. And here’s a super-powerful ring-shaped one that delivers 50,000 gauss, presumably to get that waistline down!

What is within our control is how we treat our customers. We have a number of companies who buy the product from us and retail to the consumer. Jonathan purchased the product through one of our distributors. I cannot confirm the information posted above, but I will nevertheless take his word for it.

Admittedly, those are a lot of very big claims, which if true, could have a big impact not just in your life, but in the lives of millions around the world without access to clean drinking water. But is this really the case? In other words, can WaterLiberty really help purify drinking water, or is something else going on here?

Although magnetic water treatment (MWT) products have been promoted since the 1930’s, they have not received very wide acceptance within the engineering community, and the question of whether or not they are effective is still very much open. The widespread marketing of MWT products to consumers via the Internet has done little to settle the issue.

I bought these magnets 2 years ago, along with wool balls for the dryer. I was so excited and eager for great results. The first 2 months were great! My sheets felt so clean and smelled wonderful from the essential oils I used on the wool balls. My clothes felt so clean! But in the 4th month, I would enter my home and smell a “dirty” smell, which is unusual because I am a clean freak! Little by little, my son’s athletic clothes especially, were not coming out clean, but seemed to have a build up of dirt that wasn’t being removed from the washing. Now, I was looking into odor control products, then stain removing products, etc. I felt like I was reinventing the wheel. Then a friend of mine, very into natural products, sent me an article on how detergents are crucial for clean laundry, and the article explained the chemistry behind it. Not to say you can’t us a natural detergent, but all in all, I stopped using the magnets. Then, if you think about it, how do the clothes truly get rinsed clean if the magnets are still in the water during the rinse cycle?

I ordered the Nanotowels and couldn’t be more impressed. With just water, they clean everything, greasy pans, stove tops etc. No toxic chemicals, just water. They are amazing. We also bought their …water filter for the office and the water now tastes great and we aren’t using as many plastic bottles. No chlorine taste at all. I haven’t had any trouble with the company and love their products that I’ve tried. See More

The laundry ball is filled with four types of mineral-derived ceramic beads and two magnets, each performing different cleaning functions. When these components come in contact with water, they form ‘oxygenated’ water with an increased pH level and an ability to eliminate germs and bacteria. The result is fresh, safe and clean laundry! See Components to learn more about each function.

This 2001 report describes a survey of 106 technical papers on MWT and presents detailed summaries of the 34 articles that were judged to meet the scientific criteria established by the group. None of these articles addressed the question of whether or not MWT or PWT “works”, nor was this judgment made by the Task Force, whose main objective was simply to bring together scientifically useful information that might inform further research in the field.

You can visit this Web site for info on how to construct your own “liquid magnetizers”, where you learn that “This device can be used for the magnetization of any liquid that you can put in bottles, one bottle can be charged positively at the same time that the other bottle is charged negatively.

NESI (Natural Environmental Solutions Inc. of Las Vegas, Nev, whose Web site, thankfully, recently disappeared) offered to “Magnetically enhance your body’s natural energy” — In addition to the usual water and fuel conditioners (including a magnetic showerhead that “Has Been Proven To Consistently Remove Over 90% Of Free Chlorine”, (starting every word with a capital letter presumably makes this more authoritative!) they offered a variety of Bio-Magnets that “magnetically enhance your body’s natural energy”, such as “Plaque fighting magnetic toothbrushes” (“Get teeth whiter and eliminate unslightly build up”), magnetic coffee cups, magnetic insoles (your choice of all-north or bipolar) and a Quartz Crystal Simulator (“High voltage stimulation ideal for on the spot use” ?!) .. or, for your dog, magnetic pet collars and a magnetic pet bed.

In summary, I found no test data that support the claims for improved engine performance made by vendors of magnetic fuel treatment devices. Until such data become available, considerable skepticism is justified. At present, it seems quite unlikely that any of the claimed benefits of magnetic fuel treatment are real.
Today I remembered to do my research. I didn’t bother with the ads – as soon as I saw “Magnetic Laundry Scam” in the search engine, I knew I’d found what I was looking for: a dissatisfied customer. And, unlike some such customers, you, my good man, actually ran a scientific test to reveal exactly what’s going on. Kudos!
It is important to recognize that Water Liberty Magnetic Laundry System is an odorless product. Since it is a simple magnet that attaches to your washer, the only scent that you’ll notice on your clothing is essentially nothing. As the brand mentions, the most natural and correct scent that should arise out of your laundry wash is no scent at all.
The cavalier dismissal without exploring the science or actually testing the reality of this technology is cowardly and serves no one. The reality of magnetic influence on water to reduce its surface tension is indisputable and has long been known by science. The reality is that magnets may be effective this way if they are properly constructed to produce fields that span the water.
Apparently, magnets also cure headaches, they improve gas mileage, I am trying to think of some others. They probably clean or water. I have heard stuff like you can get power from them (to charge stuff, maybe actually be true). Anyways… I love magnets… but without doing real tests that have real results… it is all a bunch of … as George Bush would say… fuzzy Math (I never voted for him, by the way).
The first item I put in, was my pup’s dog bed that he threw up on. I didn’t even take the pillow case off of it, I just threw the whole thing in the wash. Put the magnets on each side of the washing machine basin, and washed in hot water. No stain remover or anything else, as I wanted to see what these magnets could do. It came out CLEAN, no stain, no doggie smell, nothing. Just clean and fresh smell.
Anyways… People will agree and disagree. Some will believe things that are not true, and some will never believe something that is true. Some will try to prove things just like you are doing. However, actually having a controlled test is very meaningful and I applaud your efforts.
According to the brand, a package of two units of the laundry system can be used for many years and aside from saving you the hassle of having to buy detergent, it can save you a great deal of money as well. The system also does not use any chemicals or harmful compounds to provide you with results. As the brand explains, with this product, you no longer need to rely upon harmful formulas that contain common ingredients such as pesticides, imitation estrogen, and other toxins. Research shows that these toxins not only lead to harm over the long term, but they are not good for your clothes either.

It sounds simple and it is, however simply waving a magnet over a cup of water will not create a cup of cleaner.  Researchers found that the position and strength of the magnets, as well as the size of the magnetic field is critically important. Their efforts led to the development of the Magnetic Laundry System, a virtually indestructible water restructuring system, that lasts a lifetime.
Magnetic fuel treatment devices installed in automobiles are similar in design to magnetic water treatment devices. Hydrocarbon fuel is pumped through a canister containing one or more magnets or a magnetic device is clamped to the external surface of the fuel line. Magnetic treatment of fuel, it is claimed, results in increased horsepower, increased mileage, reduced hazardous gas emissions, and longer engine life.
I can get it in wisconsin at my grocery and dollar stores I use Dr Bronners castile cleanser and aloe vera gel with baking soda and washing soda. Two drops lemon essential oil. Apple cider vineger at rinse time. My clothes are brighter, Never dingy or stinky.
“the principle of magnetohydrodynamics (MHD) lowers surface tension of water, creating greater solubility and penetration, which stimulates root systems. Over time, soil compacts, which restricts the root growth. Crop Booster-treated water de-clods and breaks up the compressed soil, giving the roots freedom to grow and absorb nutrients more quickly..
Water can be “magnetized” In order to become “magnetized”, a molecule must not only be paramagnetic (contain an unpaired electron), but groups of molecules must be able to align themselves into local regions (“domains”) that amplify the effect and retain their orientation for a long time. The effect is known as “ferromagnetism” and as far as I know has only been observed in solids, the most well known, of course, being metallic iron.
Wow! My sister’s been using the magnets for a week now and she’s really impressed. They even got rid of stubborn stains that wouldn’t wash out before. Ok so each order comes with 2 magnets + enzymes for stain removal. I don’t know anything about the enzymes. The magnets “stick” to the washer walls during the cycle and they basically change the charge of the water, making the clothing “lose” the dirty molecules. Apart from the obvious bonus of no longer polluting water with detergents and filling landfills with containers you also no longer need the rinse cycle, so you also save time, water, electricity and money. Another plus is no more chemical residues in our clothing against our skin! I also seem to remember they last a lifetime. They cost about $50, which seems expensive, but I think if you did the math you’d see it would pay off within about a year depending on how often you wash. It’s also compatible with bleaching, if you want to bleach. I’ve ordered some more for me and my Mom.

The video about the magnetic laundry system popped on my computer, so I listened. Sounded interesting. I decided to do some additional internet research about this product to see what else is said about it out there. Happened across this website. Sounds like the magnetic laundry system is full of holes. Last summer I had already started making my own laundry soap. It cost me about $25-$30 to buy the ingredients. And the recipe I made last summer is still being used. And it works just as well (I think better) than store bought detergents. You can make it scent free or add a scent if you want that. This is the way to go. Waste of my time to listen to the video about the magnetic laundry system. But glad I am a savvy shopper.
Just place the magnetic laundry washing system into your washing machine & turn it on. At last, no big and pricey laundry detergent bottles to haul from the department store, and no more messy chemical substance spill overs in the laundry room!

Some magnetic products claim that they “change the molecular structure of water”,[13] a pseudoscientific claim with no real scientific basis.[2] There is no such thing as “magnetized water”.[11] Water is not paramagnetic, which means that water molecules don’t align in the presence of a magnetic field.[11] Water is repelled by magnets because it’s diamagnetic, but to such a small degree that most instruments can’t detect it.[14]
Now how do you use them….  You put them into your washer and they are supposed to pull in the elements that are in the water thus making the water softer which in turn helps the water do its job of cleaning.
One of the very few reliable reports of the therapeutic use of magnetic fields was published in 2007. “A recent study by University of Virginia researchers demonstrates that the use of an acute, localized static magnetic field of moderate strength can result in significant reduction of swelling when applied immediately after an inflammatory injury.” [link]

“Magnetic Detergent For Clothes laundry magnets work”

This is slightly less than the retail price of the magnet system, but I would be removing the chemicals from our clothes, doing the environment a bit of a favor, and after year 1, I would be SAVING MONEY.
The Laundry Solutions SuperGlobe “contains concentrated iETM Crystals” and “proprietary activation beads.” The SuperGlobe “is designed and intended to be used in conjunction with the SuperGlobe Booster” which is “a highly concentrated liquid with its own built in fabric softener.”
A.  Again, the MLS is a laundry detergent alternative only.  Laundry detergent is not used to kill microorganisms, and neither is the Laundry System, but the cleaning process itself washes away most bacteria. However, hot water will kill most microorganisms in the water, and a little bleach will do the same (although bleach works best at high temperatures).
I got an email today about these magnets, from a craft supply company that unfortunately occasionally sends me crap like this. I knew immediately it was nonsense, but since I felt like amusing myself a bit, I thought I would look into it, and quickly found this site.
However, different garments and materials may require that you use lower temperatures, and you may continue to do so. We have had many customers report excellent results using just cold water with the MLS. For the reason outlined above, we still like to recommend hot water to users–but you ultimately have the freedom to test using the product in a variety of ways, and choose whatever option works best for your personal situation.

“… positively charged water gives energy and vitality. The negatively charged water (magnetized with the North pole of a permanent magnet) have a higher surface tension as the bonding lengths shorten under the contracting magnetic influence. This negatively charged water can be used to accelerate the healing process, at the same time gives a calming and relaxing effect. ”
The system suggests you use hot water and cooling water, but it usually gives preference to hot water, because if you use it with hot water, it will remove the deep strain effectively and using less water to wash the clothes in your laundry machine.
I would never make it in the advertising business because I’m unable to show or explain how great a product is. I also don’t force my opinions of something I like on someone else. Just because I like it doesn’t mean you will. I AM SOLD ON NANO TOWELS! One wipe over a ceramic top stove and it’s clean and dry. I have stainless steel appliances and hate the up keep of them because it’s like having to polish your silver everyday. Used Nano and cleaned every appliance in lickety split time and they look better than having to “polish” them. I am sold and that’s no lie.
The MLS is guaranteed to work for you, or your money back. No gimmicks and no nonsense.  If you aren’t 100% convinced of the Laundry System’s benefits, and believe it cleans as good, or better, than your favorite detergent…YOU DON’T PAY…It’s that simple!
A.  The most obvious and important fact is that using the MLS instead of detergents is preventing petrochemicals from getting dumped into our fresh water supplies, helping to preserve our most valuable natural resource critical for human survival. Furthermore, bypassing the rinse cycle can save massive additional water usage (20-40 gallons of fresh water per load), electricity (derived mostly from burning coal and oil which are big pollutants), natural gas (for heating the extra water) and sewage. It also may possibly help reduce the causes of global warming–since such a massive amount of detergents are made and used around the world, significant resources (fossil fuels) are used in its manufacturing and delivery.
I have found that the skin irritation from laundry detergent is from the fragrance. I cannot be in the same as a box of Gain detergent. I use the kind without perfume. I remember when most homes had a bar of Naptha soap for laundry, it worked great.

“Buy Use Magnets For Laundry Review laundry magnets how they work”

A good example of the kind of crackpot pseudoscience that some vendors employ to hawk their wares to a credulous public is illustrated by these quotes from a site which offers the following misinformation:

Don’t miss the study of Magnetized Water Therapy of Early-Stage HIV. “There is reason to believe that the true mechanism of action of homeopathy is identical to that of MW: they are both energized water therapy that activates the chemiluminescence of the red blood cells.”

The concept behind the Life Miracle Laundry System is that you can achieve similar results using a chemical-free, completely renewable magnetic basis, without using non-renewable petrochemicals. Magnetic force is one of the most powerful forces on earth. In fact, the earth itself is like a giant magnet with a north and south pole. It is an amazing source of natural energy. Even the weak magnets on your refrigerator defy the force of gravity without batteries or being plugged into any power source. They will stay on your refrigerator, doing work and holding up papers for decades with no external power source. Where does all this natural power come from? From the environment around us. It is completely renewable and totally free. We are simply harnessing that amazing force and focusing it in your home washing machine to affect the water.

I bought some for myself & some as a Christmas present. At first I was happy. Now after 5-6 uses I can see my whites are grubby & the stains are not removed. I agree it’s a scam. How do I return them?

I have found that the skin irritation from laundry detergent is from the fragrance. I cannot be in the same room as a box of Gain detergent. I use the kind without perfume. I remember when most homes had a bar of Naptha soap for laundry, it worked great.

The physical process used to cause this change in crystalline structure is provided by the use of magnetic induction fields, which when exposed to moving water, interacts with the water’s electric dipole moment and applies a torque to the water molecule. The subsequent down stream effect of these coherently-oriented water molecules provides the electric potential which supplies the energy necessary to form the more complex crystalline form of calcium carbonate, called aragonite

“The technology exploits quantum electrodynamic processes to transfer energy into the water passing through the unit. As a result, potential energy stored within the water is significantly enhanced. When that water hits the soil, the stored potential energy is released, opening up soils and improving infiltration and percolation of water.” [link]

See More

People want to believe that the magnets they just spent money on are the real deal, because the alternative to that is admitting that they did something stupid and got ripped off. People don’t like doing that, so they unconsciously rationalize and filter to avoid having to do so. Scammers know this, and they are adept at using it to get people to buy their products.

Primary Class: Class (003) – Bleaching preparations and other substances for laundry use; cleaning, polishing, scouring and abrasive preparations; soaps; perfumery, essential oils, cosmetics, hair lotions; dentifrices.

You can’t do a thing about out of control fuel prices, but the Laundry System can keep you from “fueling” your washing machine with petrochemicals every day, and can keep those petrochemicals off your skin and from being flushed into our water supply!

Still, there is no scientific consensus about the mechanism of how MWT might work. This is not surprising; the entire process by which ions form precipitation nuclei is poorly understood. “Bare” ions do not exist in solution, but are protected by a hydration shell of loosely-attached water molecules and surrounded by an electric double layer of counter-ions. They do not simply come together to form precipitates. My best guess, based on the most recent literature, is that applied magnetic and electric fields might distort the double-layer in such a way as to promote nuclei formation, particularly if certain other ions or dissolved substances are present.

You will never need to buy another set of Laundry System units because they operate from a renewable, permanent magnetic source. Laundry detergents work to clean your clothes, but are non-renewable petrochemicals and may create health and environmental risks by potentially poisonous chemical by-products. The Laundry System is not only renewable for your laundry, but for your pocketbook as well. No more wasting money on detergents month after month, year after year. The laundry balls are also extremely convenient and easy to transport to the laundromat. The Life Miracle® Laundry System is not an “ordinary” magnetic system. It is made of special materials adopted specifically for use in a washing machine. We are able to offer a lifetime warranty only because our unique production methods and patented processes have been proven to work time and time again.

The company recommends a procedure to clean out the washer before the first use of their product. The procedure will remove soap scum and mineral buildup… This could account for any repeatable observations of “brightness” the first time the product is used.

Although one purpose of detergents is to reduce the surface tension of water so as to encourage it to spread evenly over a surface instead of forming droplets, the primary role of a detergent is to “solubilize” small particles of grease-like “dirt”. Detergent molecules tend to be long chains that possess water-soluble on one end, and water-insoluble (oil-like) properties on the other end. Operating on the principle that “like dissolves like”, the water-insoluble ends tend to embed themselves in the dirt particles so that the water-soluble ends stick out, disguising the particle as water-soluble and enabling it to be washed away. I am not aware that any claims that magnets can serve this function.

In fact, the massive rocks encircling Stonehenge are not “paramagnetic”.  Those who composed this bumpf are probably referring to the [fictional] ley lines (another bit of pseudoscience) that are alleged to pass through this ancient site.

The purpose of MWT is of course to inhibit scale deposition; whether it can also “soften” the water in the sense of removing the ions of calcium and similar elements that form soap scum and leave deposits on evaporation is not clear.

I have apologized to him directly for his alleged experience, and have offered him a full and complete refund (including shipping costs) from us if he does not receive satisfaction from the reseller. We will do this even though we did not sell it to him or collect the money for this order. According to his written account, Jonathan deserves, and will receive, a full refund. Though it represents a total loss to us, we believe it is absolutely the right thing to do, and the right thing for Jonathan.

“Buy Wash Clothes With Magnets Colorado laundry magnets scam”

You usually don’t need to use as much detergent as the company recommends. I start with the minimum recommended by the company, it usually works just fine for all my clothes. We own boats and my husband comes home with really gross dirty clothes and I will add a little extra then. Same goes with dish detergent. When I cured myself of filling both detergent cups in my dishwasher, my dishes were still clean, I just didn’t go through as much detergent

If you are looking for the best product which doesn’t cause any toxic laundry, then you are at the right place. Magnetic Laundry System is the perfect choice for you. Magnetic Laundry System is the best double patented technology that helps you wash all your clothes without using even a single drop of toxic chemical detergent.

This Japanese/California company which boasts “a 100-year plan to become the largest wellness company in world history.” offers a remarkably wide range of products to the alternative-health market through thousands of independent dealers. Their line of devices relating to magnetic quackery is probably second to none. Here you can get everything from magnetic bracelets to mattresses and shower heads. Few companies do a better job of integrating multiple junk sciences for multiple species, as evidenced, for example, by their magnetic dog-bed that employs “far-infrared technology”.

Overall, if you are looking for an amazing new laundry system that works as an alternative to detergent, then Magnetic Laundry System by Water Liberty may be the right product for you. To order, visit the brand’s website today.

Over eleven years after the first patent behind this product was filed, there isn’t a single washing-machine manufacturer in the entire world selling a machine which uses this technology to clean clothes. Is that plausible if it really works?

Carbonates formed by heating water containing ≈120 mg(Ca)/l are characterized by X-ray diffraction and electron microscopy. Tests on 32 pairs of samples establish, at the 99.9% probability level, that drawing water through a static magnetic field (B≈0.1T, ∇B≈10 T/m) increases the aragonite/calcite ratio in the deposit. There is an incubation period of several hours, and memory of magnetic treatment extends beyond 200 h.

Does it occur to you to wonder why there is no research supporting the claim that these magnets do anything to clean clothing? Do you wonder why the manufacturer of the magnets asked an independent laboratory to compare washing clothes with the magnets with washing clothes in plain water, and then didn’t publish the results of the latter half of the experiment?

3. When water contacts the activated ceramics, an abundance of OH ions is produced, reducing the surface tension of the water and greatly increasing its penetrating power. Ordinary detergents make use of this same principle, but do so by using harsh chemicals.

The product’s website claims that you should add 5-8 drops of WaterLiberty to an 8oz glass of water, or about 5 tablespoons to purify a bathtub full of water. In addition, it’s claimed that you can even put 3 teaspoons of the product into a bucket of water and use it to wash vegetables for up to 8 months. And once all the contaminants have been separated from the water, you can put it through a coffee filter or a normal gravity filter to remove the leftover “debris.”

While many individuals report that these balls work, most test results show them to be similar to or less effective than washing in water without any detergent.[4][5] Most of the effect can be attributed to the mechanical effect of the ball or to using hot water instead of cold water.[4][6]

[Here’s the fascinating thing: Life Miracle had an outside laboratory do such tests over ten years ago. The laboratory washed identically stained clothes without detergent, both with and without the Magnetic Laundry System, and then measured how much cleaner they were. ]

I don’t know why I’m taking the time to respond, but have you actually read my blog postings? I ask this, because if you had you would have seen that I did, in fact, “use the magnets,” and I did, in fact, prove through my experiments that clothes washed with the magnets come out no cleaner than clothes washed in plain water.

Absolutely.  Yes they are magnets so you don’t want to go rubbing them directly against the sensitive computerized parts of your washer.  But throwing them in the wash won’t impact your machine in the least.

You can’t do a thing about out of control fuel prices, but the Laundry System can keep you from “fueling” your washing machine with petrochemicals every day, and can keep those petrochemicals off your skin and from being flushed into our water supply!

placing corn seeds in the “center of the paramagnetic center of Stonehenge” resulted in 20-40% larger plants, suggesting that “restoring magnetism is the key to increased life force in all organic matter”. [link]

2. The activated ceramics also emit “far infrared electromagnetic waves” which cause water molecule clusters to disassociate, allowing much smaller individual water molecules to penetrate into the innermost part of the fabric and remove dirt.

I use eco balls have a look at link above, in the wash. These are expensive and friends and family use dog balls instead and have the same great results. So buy three rubber dog balls about the size of an apple. Or the ones with the holes in like in the picture above. Alongside this I put in about 1/2 cup of baking soda, 1/4 cup of salt in the wash drawer and 1/2 of vinegar in the conditioner drawer.

Buy one and you can use it for 1,500, 3,000, maybe even 4,000 or more loads of laundry. Skip the rinse cycle, never pay another dime for detergent, save the planet and keep harsh chemicals out of your clothes.

{Non-chemical technologies for scale and hardness control}. This 1998 document which has been withdrawn from circulation was a Federal Technology Alert from the U.S. Department of Energy that presented a suspiciously uncritical case for both magnetic and electrostatic water treatment. It provided no references to support the claims made, and the explanations of how these devices are supposed to work were scientifically naive. The report was apparently compiled by the Battelle Research Institute, which may have farmed out some of the work to the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory.

The purpose of this Web page is to examine the scientific validity of the claims for magnetic products, especially those related to water, in order to help counter some of the sales hype that is rampant in this field and has given it something of a bad name. Many of these claims relate to scientific principles that are frequently mis-stated or are simply wrong, but which may not be recognized as such by those whose command of chemistry and physics is lacking. It is hoped that this information will help consumers to make their own informed decisions about the validity of these products.

Too much of a bother sending them back. They are, after all, magnets, and who knows? Maybe I’ll learn a couple magic tricks to redeem my public idiocy. They should be right handy if that day ever comes.

The pitch for these laundry balls gets more baroque over time, but basically the theory is that by using magnets, the balls rip apart clusters of water molecules that form naturally by magnetic attraction. When these clusters are ripped apart, creating “activated” or “structured” water, it makes it easier for individual water molecules to get at the junk you’re trying to remove from your dirties. All without expensive, damaging, and unhealthy chemical detergents.

If this technology actually would work one of the larger detergent manufacturers would have bought out this company and the patents long ago and would have “shelfed” them so that no one could purchase them and ruin laundry detergent sales! My “scam radar” went wild when I saw this video advertised on Facebook and I immediately went looking for information about the product! I am glad someone took the time to investigate this so called product and hope the final thing that is “done” is that this company is reported to the Better Business Bureau!!

Having said that, my motivation is that I believe you are ripping people off, and I don’t believe in standing by idly and watching people get ripped off. And it is more than my own personal belief — it is in fact a religious obligation handed down by the Jewish Sages, based on Leviticus 19:16, “You shall not stand idly by the blood of your brother.”

They needed proof of my mailing the laundry magnets back. I used the address on the warranty card that came with them which wasn’t the right address probably, but I needed If you are in the same situation, mail them back to the warranty address or mail them to anyone so you can get your proof of mailing. My credit card company just credited the cost of the laundry magnets including shipping back to me.

Except for the LSBU source described immediatly below, most of these publications should be generally understandable by non-specialists. For more references that pertain to experiments on model systems which have appeared in the scientific literature, please see my water science page.

The company recommends a procedure to clean out the washer before the first use of their product. The procedure will remove soap scum and mineral buildup… This could account for any repeatable observations of “brightness” the first time the product is used.

The magnetic laundry system, or MLS, consists of two small blue magnets. You toss the magnets into the washer with your clothes, and when you open the washer after the cycle, you’ll find the magnets stuck to the drum of the washer. Life Miracle says these magnets work, last for a long time and have several other benefits.

Let’s give Structured Waters Technology a chance to explain: “A type of positive — negative charge causes the water molecules to form clusters. The clusters generate a point-to-point charge variation within the water that makes it highly sensitive to electromagnetic fields. This unique electronic organization of water molecules creates the electrovibrational resonance that we call Structured Water Technology.” ($99 U.S. for one, or only $379.97 for a six-pack.)

“I am very skeptical about trying new products, and especially something that doesn’t use soap to clean your clothes. I cannot believe how clean the clothes come out! I have white towels in my powder room, and I purposely only washed one of them to compare. The washed one came out white! I also like that the clothes come out smelling fresh and they stay fresh smelling even after putting them away and not using them for a few days. It is amazing that you can wash clothes with only magnets and no soap. I am truly sold on this product and will continue to use it and save money on laundry soap that isn’t good for you or the environment. Thanks!“

You have no idea how much “effort and time” I have spent on this, nor do you have any idea how much time I would consider “enormous.” I’d venture to say that I’ve spent less time on this than you have.

“Best Review Of The Magnetic Washing System Colorado laundry magnets”

If you know that it may in fact be “just the water” that’s cleaning your clothes, which is indeed the whole point of my exposé of the Magnet Laundry System, then why would you be “happy to use the laundry magnets”? Why would you be happy to pay for something you don’t actually need? Why not just wash in plain water and not waste your money on the magnets?
jlk, jlk, JLK!!! Thank you so much for this blog post — and you ARE hysterically funny — my problem is NOT!! I just received my “magic blue balls” in the mail today. (Ugh, gross; I fell for that??) I honestly think I ordered them online at the vulnerable hour of 4 a.m. (after being entranced by those two women talking waaay too much). Anyway — I have *no idea* how long ago I bought them — and I have a very good memory. You have argued clearly and convincingly that they are useless. As others have mentioned above, they come with no invoice, contact info, phone number — nothing. DOES ANYONE KNOW HOW TO RETURN THEM???
Results showed 58 different volatile organic compounds above a concentration of 300 micrograms per cubic meter, many of which were present in more than one of the six products. For instance, a plug-in air freshener contained more than 20 different volatile organic compounds. Of these, seven are regulated as toxic or hazardous under federal laws. The product label lists no ingredients, and information on the Material Safety Data Sheet, required for workplace handling of chemicals, lists the contents as “mixture of perfume oils.”
It is true that if you want your laundry smelling like something then you might not like these, but I don’t need that. Also, I want to try using essential oils on my dryer balls to impart a scent. That might be a good way to go if you do want your laundry having a scent.
The Perfect Sommelier “improves virtually any wine in less than 30 minutes.  It will bring out the maturity and subtlety that the vineyard intended.  Replace the cork with the Sommeliers’ top and place the bottle of wine on the stand.  In 30 minutes a remarkable change occurs due to the strong magnetic field created by The Perfect Sommelier.” I have corresponded with the proprietor who seems quite sincere, but I can’t help but be quite skeptical!
It is difficult not to make “terrible assumptions about [your] intentions” after examining the scientifically absurd claims you make about your product; noting your failure to provide any objective scientific evidence that it works; noting your hiding of objective scientific evidence in your possession related to the question of whether it works; and noting that when asked for objective evidence that it works, you start talking about the toxic chemicals in laundry detergents, which, true or not, is completely irrelevant to the question of whether your product actually cleans clothes.
For more than fifty years, detergent makers have been collecting your money for toxic chemicals that aren’t as good at doing what our Magnetic Laundry System can do without the use or purchase of any chemicals. Detergent chemicals simply change the molecular structure of water so that it becomes “wetter” since they also know that lowering the surface tension ofthe water, allows it to clean better.

People are stupid, so they don’t realize that washing clothes in plain water is, by itself, pretty good at getting them clean. People are stupid, so they don’t realize that the “enzymatic stain removers” that the Magnetic Laundry System people tell you to use on stains are, actually, detergents, which means that when you spray those on stains in your laundry, you’re putting detergent in your laundry, not washing it with nothing but magnets. People are stupid, so they don’t understand that “enzymatic stain removers” plus water would clean their clothes just as well as “enzymatic stain removers” plus water plus magnets.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has also warned that ethoxylated alcohol surfactants, such as APEs, may be contaminated with carcinogenic 1, 4-dioxane, which penetrates skin. Tests conducted in 1997 by the Washington Toxics Coalition found that supermarket or drugstore labels are more likely to contain APEs.
Well, there certainly are negative comments, but it must have something to do with their shipping department or something, because I received the magnets with a short wait, and they work wonderfully. …Havent tried the nano towels yet, but the magnets do work, and if you had a bit of chemistry/physics in school, you might understand why it works. Either way, I am very happy with the results. See More
The judge ruling against Trade-Net, issued in April 1999, said the manufacturers failed to substantiate their claims and hadn’t informed consumers about reports showing that the claims were incorrect.[19][20]
You will never need to buy another set of Laundry System units because they operate from a renewable, permanent magnetic source. Laundry detergents work to clean your clothes, but are non-renewable and may create health and environmental risks by potentially poisonous chemical by-products. The Laundry System is not only renewable for your laundry, but for your pocketbook as well. No more wasting money on detergents month after month, year after year. The laundry balls are also extremely convenient and easy to transport to the laundromat.
[It] features magnetic technology that was inspired by rainstorms … Pure rainwater falls from clouds that contain a strong electromagnetic field – the source of lightning. Rain passes through this highly charged field of energy.
“I have purchased the laundry magnets. I did my first wash load this past weekend and was very pleased with the outcome. The clothes smelled clean…no chemically-induced “scent”, no chemical residues and no negative environmental impact…just clean and healthy clothes…and a clear conscience !! In a nut shell, I wish to thank you so much and wish you and your family health and happiness. Keep up your outstanding work and contributions.“
Ever since there have been cars, various schemes for achieving miraculous increases in fuel mileage have been promoted to the public. (Who has not heard the folk-fiction that somebody’s invention for running a car on water was secretly bought up by the oil companies?)
(2) Fifty bucks a set is more typical, but even that has to be an outrageous markup inasmuch as there’s an outfit in Hong Kong that will sell them to you for $3.60 a pair. (Minor drawback: you have to go to Hong Kong to pick them up.)
The “torque” a magnet could apply to a water molecule would be far too minute to compete with ordinary thermal motions, which would in any case disrupt any temporary orientation even if it were to occur. There is no known way of utilizing electric potentials to cause the carbonate to precipitate as aragonite.
Water Liberty and its cutting-edge research has produced a water technologies that features to totally clean your clothing equally as nicely as traditional detergent. Water Liberty’s prime product is its magnetic laundry system. Using this product, you will by no means require to utilize laundry detergent ever once again. Greatest of all, the advantages of this solution are plentiful and it works excellent too.

Interestingly, an article describing a 2004 stock promotion claims that a 2003 report from the Rand Corporation concluded that that “a sufficient theoretical basis [for magnetic fuel treatment] exists to warrant entry into a comprehensive product testing program.” It would be most interesting to see this report which is at odds with all known science.

Among the best pseudoscientific gobbledygook comes from this explanation of the Grander Process, in which “[t]he water to be treated is channeled (without coming into direct contact) along a concentrated fluid that has been treated with specific naturally occurring high frequency fields. This fluid serves as an organization template for the water structuring. Thus, the oscillatory composition of the water is harmonized and the water becomes more and more of a mediator for natural oscillation energy…” Say what you will about this sort of advertising, it’s legal.

The basic idea behind how laundry detergent and the magnet laundry system works is the same.  They both reduce the surface tension of the water in the washing machine allowing it to more effectively agitate against the fibers of the clothes.  This agitation breaks up the dirt, grime, or whatever and leaves your clothes cleaner.

Dear Gloria, I’ve been trying to learn about using vinegar & 2 tsp of salt as a laundry detergent replacement, and haven’t found any studies. Your comment gives me hope – do you have any references, or information/websites I can show my family? Thanks heaps!

Another outfit, Fractal Water, combines far-out magnetic and “vortex” pseudoscience to support the efficacy of their “Vortex Magnetic Systems” which they allege (without any real evidence) will dramatically increase crop yields. Among their more goofy scientific-sounding nonsense claims:

In November 2011, the Hong Kong Consumer Council published a report on the effect of using washing liquid, washing powder and washing balls. The former two were shown to be effective in removing stains, while the washing balls were not more effective than plain water.[22]

You have no idea how much “effort and time” I have spent on this, nor do you have any idea how much time I would consider “enormous.” I’d venture to say that I’ve spent less time on this than you have.

They do a great job of removing dirt, but nothing works like bleach for making things white again.  That said, I’ll only add bleach when necessary.  This translates to about 80% of our washes being completely chemical free.  🙂

I do wish that bloggers had more control over the advertisements that get published on their site. But, sadly, it usually is out of their hands. If you are against oil companies, but blog about them and accept advertising, you might have ads show up for Shell. That’s just the way it works – very unfortunately.

I think you are making more a difference to the environment than the magnets ever will. I actually think I will use less laundry detergent next time I do my laundry. I appreciate that advice a lot. I also enjoy your blog. It was good reading.

This promoters of this crackpot scheme appear to be somewhat confused about the meaning of “dissociation” in this context. Independent test results by U. Minnesota Water Resources Center and Consumer Reports (Feb 1995) do not support the performance claims of he manufacturer.

There is a long history of the promotion of magnets to alleviate the “hardness” of mineral-containing waters, and particularly to control the deposition of scale in teapots, plumbing systems, evaporators, and boilers. There are now a large variety of devices on the market that claim to reduce scale deposition, and some claim to “soften” the water as well. The earlier devices mostly employed permanent magnets, but many now use alternating magnetic or electrostatic fields. The magnetic field surrounds the pipe at some point and penetrates it from all sides. This obviously limits its use to non-ferrous pipes such as copper or plastic.

Commercial promotions of MWT devices tend to make excessively optimistic claims without offering credible supporting performance data. And when they do offer “case-studies”, they are rarely thoroughly researched to engineering standards, and are frequently difficult if not impossible to verify. Some invoke the malevolent actions of the conventional water-softener industry (conspiracy theories are one of the favorite refuges of pseudoscience advocates of all kinds.) I myself have been accused (on certain Web pages) of being a secret employee of the Water Quality Association trade group !

Manufacturers rarely agree on why their laundry balls work, hinting that these claims are just made up by each individual manufacturer.[3][11] Some claims are not backed by science, while others are an exaggeration of benefits.[2] Balls that contain detergents may offer more cleaning power than water alone because their ingredients are comparable to normal washing powder, but in smaller quantities. It is claimed that conventional washing powder manufacturers recommend using more powder than is necessary, and that these powders contain unnecessary fillers or fragrances.[4]

Update: My credit card company just credited me the cost of the laundry magnets including shipping which I was told not to expect. They needed proof of my mailing the laundry magnets back, so without an address to send them back to (Detergent Truth refused to give me an address or an RA# because it was past 60 days, but a scam is a scam). So I sent them to the address on the warranty card. Thanks Jonathon for the info on this site. I cited it when I described the scam to my credit card company. Too bad this company refuses to return calls or emails.

The Magnetic Laundry System is not an “ordinary” magnetic system. It is made of special materials adopted specifically for use in a washing machine. We are able to offer a lifetime warranty only because our unique production methods and patented processes have been proven to work time and time again. No other technology can do what the Life Miracle® Laundry System can.

Imagine having to wash new clothing at least 5x’s or more. Even soaking them beforehand in vinegar, borax, or other products for 24 hours or more first. Sometimes I can never get the smells out, and I’ve wasted all that time and money for nothing.

One major vendor warns of the supposed dangers of conventional detergents (they are, after all, “petrochemicals”!) One of their pages provides links to a report from an outside testing lab that, if genuine, gives all appearances of itself having been “laundered” in that no comparisons of the effectiveness of their magnetic balls are made with non-magnetic balls (or even with rocks!), or with conventional detergents.
