“Buy Are Laundry Magnets A Scam Near Me laundry magnets how they work”

Hi Jonathan, thank you for this blog. I almost considered going for it after seeing a Facebook ad but had a bad feeling about it. My one point of confusion is how it got so many 4 and 5 star reviews from verified purchasers on Amazon. Any thoughts on the matter?
Just place the magnetic laundry washing system into your washing machine & turn it on. At last, no big and pricey laundry detergent bottles to haul from the department store, and no more messy chemical substance spill overs in the laundry room!
In effect, the water is ionized as negatively charged oxygen ions are stripped from stable water molecules and freed to perform a number of tasks. Among other things, the altered water can dissolve scum lines, help stabilize pH, kill algae and microorganisms, and release stains and odors from fabrics.
Rather, the questions at hand are (a) do wimpy magnets like the ones you sell “influence water” in any significant way, and (b) does whatever “influence” they have on the water actually have any impact on the water’s ability to clean clothes?
I have found that the skin irritation from laundry detergent is from the fragrance. I cannot be in the same room as a box of Gain detergent. I use the kind without perfume. I remember when most homes had a bar of Naptha soap for laundry, it worked great.
Hi Kris, you can use any dishwasher detergent with your Norwex Magnet Ball. Keep in mind, however, that bleach degrades anything you use it on, so although Norwex doesn’t specify that you can’t use a detergent with bleach in it with your Magnet Ball, my advice would be to try to avoid it, and use as healthy a detergent as possible.
The effect of the laundry balls may be explained by simple mechanical action and by the usage of hotter water. Some manufacturers claim that their products reduce energy consumption, but their pamphlets recommend using hot water.[4] Hot water will clean some types of spots better than cold water,[4][6] leading some people to conclude that the balls worked. The mechanical action of the laundry balls can help clean some types of spots,[4][6] but a golf ball will achieve the same effect for much less money.[2]
Got some interesting mail about laundry balls. First, reader David Harris reported his satisfaction with the Laundry Solution, a laundry ball sold by TradeNet. “It has performed well even on the smelly dog blankets we keep on the furniture to of hair and dirt from a greasy Airedale,” he wrote. “Without the detergent residue, cottons are noticeably fluffier without using softener or drier sheets (great for towels).” He went on to tout the company that developed the Laundry Solution for TradeNet, American Technologies Group, which “created a coolant that is both safe and 20 percent more efficient than freon, and is working on a particle beam device to neutralize nuclear waste.” Laundry balls and particle beams! Are these guys brilliant or what?
I don’t know why I’m taking the time to respond, but have you actually read my blog postings? I ask this, because if you had you would have seen that I did, in fact, “use the magnets,” and I did, in fact, prove through my experiments that clothes washed with the magnets come out no cleaner than clothes washed in plain water.
add more positive ions and vitality to minerals in the juice. … the magnets are creating positive ions… Bioceramic particles, produced by far-infrared technology, also emit positive ions. The magnets recharge the bioceramic material and the bioceramic material recharges the magnets. …many of these positive ions go into the juice. These additional positive ions add more vitality and longevity to the life of the minerals, reducing oxidation and keeping the juice fresher longer. [link]
The main benefit to this product is that you won’t ever need to use regular laundry detergent ever again. The Water Liberty magnets are designed to last you for years and with that quality, you don’t need to worry about spending extra money on a new system or detergent.
If you absolutely cannot live without a scent on your clothes, then just use one scented dryer sheet. There is simply no reason to pile all of the other scented chemicals on your clothes. And you need to know that most of these are very unhealthy for your skin and respiratory system, so the less you use, the better off you are. Some of those red eyes, rashes and runny noses are not because of allergies, but due to the perfume and petrochemicals left behind in your clothes.
I have apologized to him directly for his alleged experience, and have offered him a full and complete refund (including shipping costs) from us if he does not receive satisfaction from the reseller. We will do this even though we did not sell it to him or collect the money for this order. According to his written account, Jonathan deserves, and will receive, a full refund. Though it represents a total loss to us, we believe it is absolutely the right thing to do, and the right thing for Jonathan.
(2) Fifty bucks a set is more typical, but even that has to be an outrageous markup inasmuch as there’s an outfit in Hong Kong that will sell them to you for $3.60 a pair. (Minor drawback: you have to go to Hong Kong to pick them up.)

“Purchase Magnetic Laundry Cleaner US laundry magnets”

In addition, by polarizing the water droplets we increase their “free-charge”, allowing dirt to be grabbed and easily removed from the garment. When this happens, the water is considered “activated”. Along with this process, the minerals and salts suspended in the water, become activated into an “ionic” form (charged particles), aiding in the cleaning process.
[It] causes the naturally formed chemical associations (hydrocarbon clusters) to break apart into a single, potentiated molecular state. This single charged molecular state burns more uniformly and completely (efficiently) because the fuel has become fully atomized and ionized with oxygen.
The usual schtick is that the molecules of gasoline and similar fuels are “clustered” together, and a magnet inserted in the fuel line will break up these aggregates, thereby allowing more even and efficient combustion. This is not only supposed to save fuel, but it also reduces the buildup of carbon in the cylinders and reduces pollution. Other hucksters offer devices that purport to use “far infrared technology” to achieve the same purposes. A 1998 review found virtually no convincing evidence for the efficacy of magnetic fuel treatment.

I think you are making more a difference to the environment than the magnets ever will. I actually think I will use less laundry detergent next time I do my laundry. I appreciate that advice a lot. I also enjoy your blog. It was good reading.
D.L. Watt et al, Journal of Clinical Periodontology 20(5) 314-317 May 1993. This double-blind study showed a significant reduction in calculus volume when irrigator devices had magnets installed. The authors suggest some possible mechanisms relating to reduced calcium and phosphate ion activity, but these don’t seem very convincing. A summary of this article can be seen at this commercial site. Needless to say, many enterprises see no need to wait for verification of these results, and are breathlessly marketing magnetic oral irrigators to the public.

A.   The enzymes are a natural and non-toxic spot/stain remover like the “Shout” or “Spray’N’Wash” type products normally used with detergent. But the enzymes are all-natural and non-toxic. These types of spot remover products are sold separately of detergents, and only need to be used on tough stains.
Many products also claim that the pearls contain “anti-chlorine” agents which are supposed to neutralize chlorine which has been added to the tap water — again, what these “agents” are is never really revealed, and you can’t just magically remove chlorine from water, the ions would have to react and go somewhere.[4] Chloride and bleach related substances are actually common in washing powders and chlorine is used in the disinfection of tap water. The claims state that by removing chlorine from the washing water the surface tension is (again) reduced and harmful chlorine can’t interact with the clothes, even though the amounts in tap water are very small both in Europe (0.3-1.0 mg/L) and North America (4 mg/L)[5].
Those are precious. My 8-year-old son is BEGGING to help with the laundry (seriously!) but I am struggling with finding a good system. I want him to be able to help, but I don’t want to babysit him to tell him exactly what kind of treatment each load needs. Maybe I need to start putting laundry symbols on the hampers. (And maybe I need to search your archives too!)
My special DHMO mixture, when added in sufficient amounts to the gas tank of your vehicle, will almost completely prevent the harmful environmental degradation caused by the oxidation of fossil fuels in the engine. As we all know, the products of fuel oxidation are responsible for much of the pollution of our precious air and water supply.
I can not handle the dyes and perfumes in detergents so, I use ECOS from Earth Friendly Products, Addison, IL 60101 1.630.595.1900; call from 9-3 CT/ M-F. efpclean.com and ecos.com sold at Walmart. The other one I buy is homesolv from citrasolv, Danbury, CT 06813-2597 1.800.343.6588; http://www.citrasolv.com. I also use vinegar, lemon juice, and baking soda detergents such as Arm and Hammer. I react terribly to chemicals; anytime I come in contact with them I can taste them for anywhere between 1/2 a day to 2 days and I don’t wash with them because I itch so much. I urge everyone not to buy the magnets until they have actual evidence confirming their results. In the mean time try searching for detergents derived from plants.
One of the most pressing considerations that you may be thinking about is how this system works. After all, just the idea of a magnet cleaning your clothes seems ridiculous. However, there is a science behind it that has not only been tested, but proven to work as well.
“The technology exploits quantum electrodynamic processes to transfer energy into the water passing through the unit. As a result, potential energy stored within the water is significantly enhanced. When that water hits the soil, the stored potential energy is released, opening up soils and improving infiltration and percolation of water.” [link]
One major vendor warns of the supposed dangers of conventional detergents (they are, after all, “petrochemicals”!) One of their pages provides links to a report from an outside testing lab that, if genuine, gives all appearances of itself having been “laundered” in that no comparisons of the effectiveness of their magnetic balls are made with non-magnetic balls (or even with rocks!), or with conventional detergents.
Another study of a commercial magnetic water treatment device was conducted by Hasson and Bramson (1985). Under the technical supervision of the device supplier, they tested the device to determine its ability to prevent the accumulation of calcium carbonate scale in a pipe. Very hard water (300 to 340 ppm) was pumped through a cast-iron pipe, and the rate of scale accumulation inside the pipe was determined by periodically inspecting the pipe’s interior. Magnetic exposure was found to have no effect on either the rate of scale accumulation or on the adhesive nature of the scale deposits.
On the other hand, if they could develop magnets that attract dog hair, I’d be all for it.  As long as the magnets were “chemical-free,” of course.  Can’t have any chemicals around, you know.  Those things are dangerous.
A Pennsylvania company claims that their magnetic Fuel Conditioner works with gasoline, diesel, bunker oil, and natural gas, and that it will “enable your company to meet EPA clean air regulations without the tremendous cost of scrubbers and other expensive emission-reducing equipment.” How are these results, unknown to science and technology, achieved?

Overall this Magnetic Laundry System was strongly recommended and used by many people like you and me. They got the real benefit on washing clothes with this system and it never damages the quality of your cloth and also removes all the stains quickly. While using this system you can save water, money, trees, and life of nature. For that reason each and everyone recommending this eco-friendly system to save your money and time. It will support you to know the truth of harmful chemical used in detergents to save your life and also protects your family from health issues. So don’t miss this opportunity… Grab it before the offer ends.
Preparing your smoothie the night before is a great way to keep on a schedule and also have less work to do when you’re tired in the morning. Put the ingredients in a cup with lid and store in freezer over night.
Most descriptions of MWT don’t claim to remove the hardness ions from the water (as conventional ion-exchange softeners do). Most commonly the lime scale solids are said to either deposit in a loosely adherent flake-like form, or to precipitate as small particles within the water itself instead of on metal surfaces. In either case, the precipitated material is carried along with the water.
The Life Miracle Laundry System® is a laundry detergent alternative only. Just like when using laundry detergent, separate products used for other functions must be used separately, like spot stain treatments, and whitening bleach products.  These are separate from the Laundry System just as they are separate from detergent… [and] nothing whitens like chlorine bleach, but there are few chemicals that are more toxic for the environment and health.  Bleach is very harsh and damaging to you clothes as well.  That said, if you don’t mind the tradeoffs, you can still use diluted bleach with Life Miracle Laundry System® if you choose.
Clever chemical companies have been telling us for years that the only way to get anything clean is with their toxic cleaner but the truth is that water is a universal solvent it’s the one doing all the cleaning, all detergent does is enhance waters already existing power.
Right, because no one could possibly be motivated to spend the time debunking crackpot science out of a desire to elevate the general level of scientific education in the world and help prevent people from wasting their money on products that don’t work.
But all of this is really beside the point. The point is this: as I said in my blog postings about the Magnetic Laundry System, all its manufacturers need to do to prove that it works it to publish test results from an independent testing laboratory showing that laundry washed with the Magnetic Laundry System gets cleaner than laundry watched with water alone. They had an independent laboratory perform exactly that test, but then they declined to publish the full test results.
If that’s not, in fact, what is shown by the unreleased results, then I encourage Life Miracle to publish these results and let everyone see the independent laboratory confirmation that magnets clean clothes better than water alone.
The claim of alkalization is dubious. While it is true that the alkaline agents in normal washing powders catalyze the tensides, there are no studies suggesting that the washing pearls would affect the pH of the water, especially for a duration of several thousand washes. The pH of water is not just some magical property: it is caused by ions dissolving in water; to affect the pH significantly, these “pearls” would have to dissolve quite a proportion of their material into the water, and if they could dissolve to that degree, you’d be lucky to get one wash, never mind a thousand.

People want to believe that the magnets they just spent money on are the real deal, because the alternative to that is admitting that they did something stupid and got ripped off. People don’t like doing that, so they unconsciously rationalize and filter to avoid having to do so. Scammers know this, and they are adept at using it to get people to buy their products.
I started using the laundry magnets a few months ago. I love them. My laundry gets clean, I don’t have chemicals eating away with my skin or clothes. The dryer balls are great also and they do cut …back on drying time as much as 15 minutes per load. If I feel the need for bleach, I use a bit of Borax. 20 Mule Team® Borax is also a natural alternative to Color Safe Bleach, and naturally softens hard water. No need for full cycles when washing. Just wash and rinse. They really do work and my water and electric bill have gone down significantly. Don’t believe any negative comments about these products. They really do work. Happy in South Florida. See More

“Purchase Magnetic Laundry System Coupon Review laundry magnets how they work”

“Hoax! This is yet another attempt at extracting cash from people with false claims. Magnets DO NOT change the molecular structure of water. Simple as that. You may get some mechanical cleaning from the balls rubbing against the clothes, and it’s true that water is a good solvent, but there’s no way it will work as good as detergent. If you want to experience this laundry miracle, try throwing a few smooth rocks in with your laundry. Your clothes will no doubt get a bit cleaner, but I’d recommend some detergent to go with it.”
The front fabric is wrinkled/loose, not sleek like in the photo. Color is disappointingly a very dark brown, like dark chocolate or coffee grounds, not as pictured, see photo. Two stars for it’s nice size and sturdiness.
A.   The enzymes are a natural and non-toxic spot/stain remover like the “Shout” or “Spray’N’Wash” type products normally used with detergent. But the enzymes are all-natural and non-toxic. These types of spot remover products are sold separately of detergents, and only need to be used on tough stains.
It is also worth noting that what you wrote above is different than what you told me in private email about how you are handling this issue. When you tell two different stories about how you’re handling the same problem, it is difficult to believe that either is true.
I was very excited when I heard about The Patented Magnetic Laundry System.  The website says that they can be used without detergent to get clean laundry with out the chemicals!  This I had to try!!!
The magnetic laundry system, or MLS, consists of two small blue magnets. You toss the magnets into the washer with your clothes, and when you open the washer after the cycle, you’ll find the magnets stuck to the drum of the washer. Life Miracle says these magnets work, last for a long time and have several other benefits.
This system provides independent laboratory reports which are approved scientifically in one of the world’s largest laboratory, and anybody can save money by eliminating the need to buy chemical detergents throughout your lifetime.
A.  Again, the MLS is a laundry detergent alternative only.  Laundry detergent is not used to kill microorganisms, and neither is the Laundry System, but the cleaning process itself washes away most bacteria. However, hot water will kill most microorganisms in the water, and a little bleach will do the same (although bleach works best at high temperatures).
But on sweat stains, detergent did a whopping 14 percent better at cleaning than Crystal Wash or water. This is, in our opinion, Crystal Wash’s greatest failing: Since clothes are worn by people, they almost always get sweat stains. Unless you’re okay with wearing dingy shirts with yellowed armpits, you should stick with detergent.
This is really a separate subject, but the purveyors of at least one magnetic device appear not to understand that there is a distinct difference between “magnetized” water (impossible) and electrically “charged” water (also impossible!), or more likely they hope that the suckers who come to their Web site will be sufficiently ignorant to miss this point. The left column contains some paragraphs we found a few years ago on their Web site; the parts that are incorrect, untrue, misleading or scientifically absurd are highlighted. Wholly-Water is not the only outfit that has hawked such schlock to the general public.
The Life Miracle® Magnetic Laundry System works under a unique means of water maintenance through direct application of magnetic force. Water has long been known as the “universal solvent”. The Laundry System incorporates powerful, specially calibrated magnetism to help alter the basic nature of water and increase its natural solvency.
One of the best things about the Water Liberty’s Magnetic Laundry System is that it can work with just about any washing machine; whether you have your own or you use a laundromat. It works perfectly with top loading and front loading washing machines, washing machines made inside or outside of the USA, and no matter what drum the machine uses. Just follow the instructions carefully and see the results for yourself.
No additional rinse cycle is needed, as there are no chemical substances to wash out. You may discover that you do not require softeners or static cling eliminators. This is definitely THE 21st century laundry detergent substitute. NO HAZARDOUS CHEMICALS INTRODUCED INTO THE NATURAL ENVIRONMENT, OR ONTO YOUR GARMENTS TO INDUCE HEALTH ISSUES!
In effect, the water is ionized as negatively charged oxygen ions are stripped from stable water molecules and freed to perform a number of tasks. Among other things, the altered water can dissolve scum lines, help stabilize pH, kill algae and microorganisms, and release stains and odors from fabrics.
Busch et al. (1997) measured the scale formed by the distillation of hard water with and without magnetic treatment. Using laboratory-prepared hard water, a 22 percent reduction in scale formation was observed when the magnetic treatment device was used instead of a straight pipe section. However, a 17 percent reduction in scaling was found when an unmagnetized, but otherwise identical, device was installed. Busch et al. (1997) speculate that fluid turbulence inside the device may be the cause of the 17 percent reduction, with the magnetic field effect responsible for the additional 5 percent. River water was subjected to similar tests, but no difference in scale formation was found with and without the magnetic treatment device installed. An explanation for this negative result was not found.
Our laundry detergent releases banned cancer-causing toxic chemicals which affect the health of your family members. Nowadays, 99% of laundry detergents may cause cancer as they may have cancer-causing chemicals which are hazardous and highly toxic to our health.
Love it. I received these magnets as a gift, and I had the same line of thinking as the author here. Glad that someone else ran the test for me. I figure, “Hey, I just got a couple of cool rubber-coated magnets to play with!” I’m not going to wash clothes with them, but it’ll still be fun. I can’t believe more people don’t stop and ask the basic questions first. It’s too bad that they tend to get a little offended and defensive when I do. I can’t believe that a company can get away with this. Thanks for bringing this to light and running it through the B.S. test for us.
Does it occur to you to wonder why there is no research supporting the claim that these magnets do anything to clean clothing? Do you wonder why the manufacturer of the magnets asked an independent laboratory to compare washing clothes with the magnets with washing clothes in plain water, and then didn’t publish the results of the latter half of the experiment?
It’s understandable that there’s a demand for laundry cleaner that doesn’t use as many harsh chemicals as detergent. However, each of those chemicals serves a specific purpose in removing stains—especially when it comes to stains like sweat. And although Crystal Wash has none of the chemicals of regular detergent, it has none of the efficacy either. There were high hopes for Crystal Wash as it raised over $250,000 on its Kickstarter, so it’s a bit of a bummer that it fails at one of basic tasks of doing laundry.
Normally I wouldn’t even give something as boring as laundry detergent a second thought.  Whatever detergent is cheapest is what I’m going to buy.  But after reading a post from a holistic-minded friend of mine about the chemicals in many of today’s name-brand detergents got me thinking about alternatives.
I just want to comment here, as I represent the manufacturer of this product. I COMPLETELY disagree with Jonathan’s assessment of the product itself, and believe he has gone way overboard of his criticism of our product. I can’t spend hours on end debating point-by-point all he has posted, but I believe all of his critiques are without merit, and the vast majority of our customers would disagree with him as well. This is the first time in eight years a customer has so virulently attacked this amazing product.
While many individuals report that these balls work, most test results show them to be similar to or less effective than washing in water without any detergent.[4][5] Most of the effect can be attributed to the mechanical effect of the ball or to using hot water instead of cold water.[4][6]
People who buy these magnets and think that their clothes are being cleaned by them are actually taking advantage of the detergents left behind on the clothes from before they switched to the magnets.
Magnet also affects the bonding angle between the hydrogen and the oxygen atom in the water molecule. Magnetized water causes  hydrogen-oxygen bond angle within the water molecule to be reduced from 104 to 103 degrees. This in turn causes water molecule to cluster together in groups of 6-7 rather than 10-12. The smaller cluster leads to better absorption of water across cell walls.

“Buy Magnetic Laundry Cover Arizona laundry magnets scam”

[T]he department of Justice obtained the various products and had them tested by a qualified, independent laboratory. Results of the tests indicated that the water in the spheres had no special characteristics. The “globe products” essentially contain nothing more than water, blue dye and a foaming additive contained within an impermeable plastic shell.

I’ve tried them in both top and front load washers.  If you’re using a front load unit make sure to put them in some pants pockets or a pair of socks (one magnet in each).  This will keep you from going crazy when they bump against the door during the wash.

When the perfume is absorbed by the body it can spell trouble in the form of environmental sensitivities. Some of those red eyes and runny noses are not because of allergies, but due to the perfume and detergents left behind in our clothes.

I’m very pleased with the Magnetic Laundry System; thanks for offering it. I could see how dirty the water was in the washer, so it’s obviously doing a terrific job of cleaning.  Also the clothes have no smell when removed, compared to before. thanks again!

It was really easy to use the magnetic system, and the box has a brochure inside with directions and information. The company recommends you use hot water and run a normal-sized load of laundry. I usually wash my clothes in cold water, so I was a little nervous about this step. I decided to go warm, and luckily, no colors bled!

As seen on TV, AsiaNation Direct Laundry Balls also can be used to wash cars, dishes, floors & work surfaces, vegetables and flowers, people and food. Things you wash with Laundry Balls stay cleaner longer, because they don’t attract dust; washed with Laundry Balls stay fresh longer; and pre-treating your water with Laundry Balls improves the growth of your houseplants. Bathing with Laundry Balls relieves “tension, stress, rheumatic pain, stiffness and poor circulation” and “can lead to the remission of athlete’s foot, fungal infections and split skin.” Put one in the back of the fridge to absorb odors and help preserve the food.

As with anything relating to health and wellness, there is a huge “alternative health” industry that is just as avaricious as the large pharmaceutical companies in its eagerness to separate consumers from their money. Among these are the magnet merchants who promote an amazing variety of devices that are purported to offer near-miraculous relief from pain (for which there is a very limited amount of credible evidence— see below) and cures of everything from cancer to baldness. Many of these products are listed by the FDA as “Fraudulent and Deceptive Medical Devices” subject to automatic detention on import, but this has done little to reduce the availability of these items to the credulous multitudes.

I have apologized to him directly for his alleged experience, and have offered him a full and complete refund (including shipping costs) from us if he does not receive satisfaction from the reseller. MWT works by forcing oppositely-charged ions to move in opposite directions in the water, promoting collisions of charge-pairs that result in the formation of crystallization nuclei within the water. This is the basis of magnetohydrodynamics and is known in plasmas (ionized gases) but not in liquid solutions. Dissolved ions with their hydration shells are too large to diffuse rapidly through the hydrogen-bonded structure of water.

On top of the high level of aluminum, we located a copy of WaterLiberty’s patent application, which specifically outlines that the extract is prepared using sulfuric or hydrochloric acid, both of which (even if diluted) can cause a wide variety of health problems with continued use. In addition, the application states that WaterLiberty should be used in conjunction with a “sterilizing water-purifying chamber and a filtering chamber,” which are 2 different types of filtration devices. This is in direct contrast to the claim on the product’s website that you can simply filter out the “gunk” using a coffee filter.

Suffering from back pain, insomnia, kidney stones, or any of about a dozen common ailments? It may be due to “pollution of your body by stray alternating current-induced magnetic fields.” If so, you need a {magnetic mattress} whose built-in permanent magnets provide healing “natural” (“direct current”) fields. Replete with results of “scientific” studies [unpublished, of course!] citing such gems as “62.35 – 98.94%” effectiveness rating (at “99% confidence level”) for relief of back pain. (It’s hard to get a laugh out of a class when I am discussing statistical treatment of data, but this should do the trick!)

“How does the laundry solution [U.S. $75] work? It is structured water that emits far-infrared electro magnetic waves through the walls of the container into your laundry water. This causes the water molecule cluster to disassociate….”

I was skeptical about the “magnetic process” that the company claims, and had no luck finding a convincing or legitimate answer to my queries, just a lot of repetition about “surface tension of water” without any correlation between disrupting the tension, and HOW that would aid in cleaning laundry.

This is a great question.  My husband and I travel a good bit and I took these with us.  A couple of the machines in apartments we stayed in were plastic tub machines.  I just dropped the two magnets into a couple of socks and placed them on opposite sides.

Chlorine is by far the most widely-employed agent for disinfecting municipal water supplies, and there is no question about its effectiveness in reducing water-borne disease. Unfortunately, this active element also reacts with some of the organic components present in certain water to generate small amounts of chlorinated products such as chloroform and chloramines which have been shown to be mutagens and may be carcinogens. Although there are no epidemiological studies that demonstrate an adverse effect of chlorinated water on human health, it is understandable that many people would prefer their drinking water to be chlorine-free, if only to reduce the unpleasant taste in localities where the chlorine content is especially high. This can usually be accomplished by activated charcoal filters, and in extreme cases, by boiling. Numerous vendors sell magnetic devices, often in the form of shower heads, that purport to remove the chlorine from the water. Their Web sites paint frightening pictures of the dire consequences of showering in water containing this poisonous element. Consider, for example, this breathless paragraph from one sales site, obviously intended for people the vendor considers so dumb that they will be impressed by all of the words being capitalized:

The US Federal Trade Commission has taken action against some of the manufacturers of these products because of their misleading claims.[7] Consumer organizations from several countries have recommended against buying this type of product.

Today I remembered to do my research. I didn’t bother with the ads – as soon as I saw “Magnetic Laundry Scam” in the search engine, I knew I’d found what I was looking for: a dissatisfied customer. And, unlike some such customers, you, my good man, actually ran a scientific test to reveal exactly what’s going on. Kudos!

The second wash I did was of 2 brand new bras that I’d had sitting around for awhile cause I ran out of my natural detergent, and stopped using the green wash ball because it was making holes in my clothes. I put the bras in a mesh bag, turned the water to cold, and extra low. Because the water was on extra low, I put the magnets on the very bottom of the washing machine basin. One on each side of the agitator. I was nervous……I just knew I was going to have to wash those bras at least a few times. Boy was I wrong!!! They came out smelling like it does just after it rains! CLEAN! That is it! I couldn’t believe it. I can’t believe it. I’m still in pure amazement! I know this must sound crazy, but if you don’t have mcs maybe it’s hard to understand how one can get so excited over something so simple……….I just can’t begin to describe how miraculous this is! lol Who gets excited to wash clothes??? I do now! I can’t wait to go to the thrift store, and buy something to throw in there, cause they always reek of scented detergents so bad, that sometimes I wash them 10 or more times, and still don’t get the detergent smells out. That’s A LOT of wasted water, electricity, and time, not to mention expensive natural products I use to try to eliminate the smells.

I bought one last month but have never received it. My bank had sent me a notification that my card had been compromised & had been cancelled due to a purchase that I had recently made. I figure it was probably there. And now that the website is no longer up, it tells me that I have lost my money. :'(

Considering all of the very big claims made by WaterLiberty, can it really help return your water to a natural state, or is it just an expensive gimmick? Let’s just say there are a lot of unanswered questions surrounding WaterLiberty, some of which include:

“Professor Klaus Kronenberg says «magnets actually change the nucleus of water and that is the source of its seemingly magical properties. A diet of magnetized water makes cows give more milk, chickens grow fatter and lay more eggs. and cantaloupes and other crops grow larger and have better yields with less fertilizer.»”

It is laughable that you accuse me of making personal attacks, when it was you who made this personal in your private emails to me. You appealed to things that you and I supposedly have in common, things which are completely irrelevant to the question of whether your product works, in an effort to garner sympathy. Then, when it became clear that it was not going to work, you got nasty and suggested that I must have been paid off by a laundry detergent company to post my blog entry about your product.

I do wish that bloggers had more control over the advertisements that get published on their site. But, sadly, it usually is out of their hands. If you are against oil companies, but blog about them and accept advertising, you might have ads show up for Shell. That’s just the way it works – very unfortunately.

I’m not going to blow smoke up your you-know-what and tell you this magnet system cured that problem overnight.  But I’ll tell you what DID happen.  After a couple months of washing without detergent, the smell of his nasty gym clothes actually got better.

“Purchase Amazon Laundry Magnets New York laundry magnets”

The negative field of a magnet is used most often to correctly stimulate (potentiate) and reorganize the electron (spin) charge which results in creating the healthy cellular charge state of a strong-negative potential.
Washing your clothes without the use of harsh chemical laundry detergents is amazing technology. We truly believe in doing laundry with a natural and renewable process that can last for many decades rather than non-renewable, and ecologically questionable, synthetic chemicals.
It can be used in any machine and at any temperature, but it is preferable to use hot water for absolutely clean clothes. However, the temperature of the water depends on the types of clothes that you want to be washed.
I was skeptical about the “magnetic process” that the company claims, and had no luck finding a convincing or legitimate answer to my queries, just a lot of repetition about “surface tension of water” without any correlation between disrupting the tension, and HOW that would aid in cleaning laundry.
The size and quality of this hamper is great. But beware: The color is a much darker brown in person. I tried to like it, but it was just so hard on my eyes. To be frank, it’s an ugly poop brown. 🙁 Further disappointment when I paid over $15 to ship it back on my own. Not happy and will not be purchasing from this seller again!
In fact, you can buy other flocculants made with similar ingredients on Amazon.com for a fraction of the price Water Liberty charges. The pictures shown here reveal two low-priced flocculants available right now on Amazon.com.
“I was really amazed. The cleaning results were far better than expected, and more impressive considering I used zero chemicals. The NanoTowels plus water were able to completely clean my granite countertops in my kitchen, all of the tile and porcelein in my bathrooms, the mirrors and windows came out crystal clear, and they even worked cleaning wood furniture. Surprising and impressive.“
Dryer balls, (if they are the blue with spikes, type) are nothing more than a rubber ball that bounces around in your clothes. The purpose of the dryer ball is to “beat” the clothes as they dry. This softens them and it DOES work.
Now to me this seems like a delightful way to keep overconsumptive Americans from polluting the water supply while at the same time helping to ease the burden that excess cash has on the overly gullible.
One of the pluses of traditional detergent is it’s ability to help cover up less appealing odors, such as those that come from sweaty gym clothes.  For this I had the perfect test.  My husband has workout clothes that he’s been using for going on 10 years.
A: Generally speaking, hot water is always the best temperature for the cleanest clothes whether you are using the Magnetic Laundry System or detergent. Think about when you are washing dishes in the sink. The cold water cleans, but the hot water removes the food more quickly and efficiently with less water. It is the same in your washing machine.
NESI (Natural Environmental Solutions Inc. of Las Vegas, Nev, whose Web site, thankfully, recently disappeared) offered to “Magnetically enhance your body’s natural energy” — In addition to the usual water and fuel conditioners (including a magnetic showerhead that “Has Been Proven To Consistently Remove Over 90% Of Free Chlorine”, (starting every word with a capital letter presumably makes this more authoritative!) they offered a variety of Bio-Magnets that “magnetically enhance your body’s natural energy”, such as “Plaque fighting magnetic toothbrushes” (“Get teeth whiter and eliminate unslightly build up”), magnetic coffee cups, magnetic insoles (your choice of all-north or bipolar) and a Quartz Crystal Simulator (“High voltage stimulation ideal for on the spot use” ?!) .. or, for dog, magnetic pet collars and a magnetic pet bed.
This product has me purely amazed! As someone who has mcs, and finds it frustrating to have to wash new clothes numerous times to get the chemicals out, or used ones even MORE because of the highly scented detergents in them, this product is truly a MIRACLE product! I thought the green wash ball was good, but this blows that, and anything else I’ve ever tried out of the water! If you don’t have mcs, you might not understand the lengths we go to, to try to get our clothes rid of these toxins.
A: The Magnetic Laundry System is a laundry detergent alternative only. Laundry detergent is not used to kill microorganisms, and neither is the Magnetic Laundry System, but the cleaning process itself washes away most bacteria. Moreover, hot water kills most microorganisms in the water, and a little bleach will do the same (although bleach works best at high temperature).
I haven’t tried these but I am extremely chemically sensitive. I cannot be around anyone who uses laundry detergent or dryer sheets. They make me very sick. People are killing themselves with all these toxic products. I use vinegar to clean and organic detergent.
But the magnets stay “stuck” (magnetized) to the walls, which are metal, so there’s no friction. And they don’t change the molecular structure of water (which would be scary), but the charge. I’m no expert, that’s why I had my sister and her family try it out! And with excellent results! Placebo effect? Could be, but she has a little boy who sure dirties things. Maybe I’ll have her try doing a load minus the magnets to see her thoughts. I’ll post back my her reaction to this experiment if she goes along with it.
I have a Meile washer and Dryer front loads and can only use Purcell boxed soap and have no problems coming clean and always wash with cold water, never hot and they come out clean!!So Iwill stick with my Purcell soap and only need a 1/2 oz of soap!!no magnets for me!!I do like the nana towels to clean glass computer and I pad screens and windows, fire place glass ,microwave glass door and my glasses I wear love those towels!!
A seller of various commercial items was touting the magnetic balls for washing clothes. Being skeptical I proceeded to research the internet for serious criticism and found your excellent article that dispelled the hype and left me grateful to you.
“When we magnetize the water, all the electrons take on the same charge. Because like charges or poles repel each other, the molecules are pushed away from each other breaking up the associations into singular stasis known as molecularly mono-atomic.”
I think you are making more a difference to the environment than the magnets ever will. I actually think I will use less laundry detergent next time I do my laundry. I appreciate that advice a lot. I also enjoy your blog. It was good reading.
These items in the box were brand new, and the urine had been on them since appx December (so 4-5 months back). I thought, this will be the acid test for these magnets. Well, there was one sock on top which got the brunt of the stain and the smell. That stain was a dark orange color it had been dried on there so long. The stain came out. All the socks had no stains now… (they were all packaged together, stacked)…. however the top one still had a faint odor. I re-washed it and it came out odor-free. Now THAT is a test to pass for sure….(note to everyone: anything I can clean and get back to the lady, I am doing it – so these socks are going back to her house after the major cleanup is done).
After reading your article especially the above paragraph I am now even happier to use the laundry magnets. I have been using them for over a month and before that was using the pellet balls, I am saying this to inform you that I was not using any chemicals prior to using magnetic balls and they still did a good job and I am satisfied with them especially after reading that even plain water cleans thus you don’t really need any harmful chemicals to wash your clothes !! especially if they leave a chemical residue on the clothes even after the rinse cycle. Who wants nasty chemicals on their skin ?? I have a 4 year old boy and comes home with a very dirty uniform, magnets (or maybe just the water) do a very good job in cleaning it. I wash with cold water and don’t use any softner and clothes come out soft too. You might consider them as a scam but I am happy with the result. My mum has been using them too for over a month and she is pleased with the results. For any stubborn stains I use a pre treatment just like I did long ago when I washed with good quality detergents. Maybe you should investigate the harm the “common detergets” are doing to people and the environment and evaluate the pros and cons. Clothes are eventually discarded or grown out of in case of kids but not in the case of our health and the environment.

Amigo, menudos argumentos usas.

In contrast to the testimonials common to NCD [non-chemical devices] marketing literature, the many controlled studies undertaken by various government and industrial organizations have resulted in a consensus opinion that NCD are not capable of producing the effects claimed in the literature. In general, the theories advanced by the NCD suppliers to explain operation of their devices show a lack of agreement with accepted scientific principles. In spite of an extensive history of installation failures, findings of no effect in controlled studies, and no acceptable theory of operation; new NCD are accepted in the market on a routine basis, often obtaining significant sales before the inevitable disasters result in that particular device being discredited.
*UPDATE 3/2/16* Please see comment in the comment section below for the complete update. In short, still using this, still loving it, but there have been a few items it did not work on. I think the odor is literally in the threads used to make it, and the odor won’t go away no matter what I’ve tried.
Magic laundry magnets work will clean your clothes with “The MLS System incorporates powerful, specially calibrated magnetism to help alter the basic nature of water and increase its natural solvency.” (magneticlaundry.ca)
2. The activated ceramics also emit “far infrared electromagnetic waves” which cause water molecule clusters to allowing much smaller individual water molecules to penetrate into the innermost part of the fabric and remove dirt.
Thank you for what I consider to be an unbiased review. I was tempted to buy the magnets after a trusted source of mine recommend them (they will be getting a link to your review and a stern finger shaking from me), and my desire to avoid harmful chemicals in my day to day life.
The MLS is guaranteed to work for you, or your money back. No gimmicks and no nonsense.  If you aren’t 100% convinced of the Laundry System’s benefits, and believe it cleans as good, or better, than your favorite detergent…YOU DON’T PAY…It’s that simple!
I ordered magnets, never saw them !!! as a bonus offer I directed delivery to my 75yr. Old mother. The second set at $10 cheaper. The package was supposed to contain 2 magnets for washing clothes. Ins…tead it was something like tennis balls. For $50 plus to return was a nightmare with customer service. My origional order was out of stock they claimed , but charged me for it ahead of time. I waited over 2 months , when it finally arrived I had already demanded my refund / so I returned it unopened ! Not wanting to waste time with customer service again. My mom shipped me the gift I sent her to send back at a cost of $15 , then I shipped it back at $15 so post office made $45 on this product offer of buy second set at a discount….they substituted another product to send my mom, causing total confusion & long distance to explain to her. My refund took another 30 days from my cancellation ! They use your money people !!! See More

I got news for you guys…the magnets DO WORK. Yes, customer service is a bit iffy, and it took almost six weeks for me to receive my shipment, with zero response from Water Liberty. But by golly, th…ese magnets clean even better than conventional detergents, without the harsh chemicals. I am a fan.
An example of the errant nonsense that is sometimes employed to fool consumers into buying these worthless products is quoted in the left column below from a now-disappeared Web page. Similar claims can be found on many current sales sites. The parts I consider wrong, misleading, or meaningless are highlighted.
In fact, because these chemicals have the possibility of triggering health problems and may cause environmental distress, we believe leaving them on the clothing seriously compromises their cleanliness. Most people aren’t even aware that potentially harmful petrochemicals derived from crude oil are constantly on their clothes, possibly causing the wearer skin and respiratory ailments. We define clean as chemical-free, non-harmful to the wearer and non-toxic to the environment, in addition to being optically acceptable. But only you, the user and owner of the product can determine that. We feel there are many people out these just like us that don’t want to walk around with petrochemicals and optical brighteners imbued in their clothes all day long.
“Resonant frequency energy waves are then induced into the flowing irrigation water with the result that the energy waves travel unimpeded through the irrigation system and through the sprinkler or drip system to then move freely and efficiently through soil with each drop of treated water.” [link]
Aqua-Phyd sells a device intended primarily for treating irrigation water. It is a “non-chemical water and soil treatment technology and service. Aqua-PhyD treated water will reduce soil compaction and create optimum growing conditions for plants and turf.”
Influence of altering magnetic field on chemical properties of water, scale formation and morphology was studied using polyethylene and copper pipes located both in a laboratory pilot-system and in an apartment complex formed by five different buildings each having four or five different homes. In the pilot network, magnetic field decreased calcium scaling by 15% in the both studied piping materials. Also, surface film on the copper pipe appeared to be less compact by the magnetic exposure. In the studies conducted in the apartment complex, magnetic field effectively mobilized earlier accumulated iron and copper from the copper pipe surfaces especially dealing with a hot water circuit.

Duffy (1977) provides experimental evidence that scale suppression in magnetic water treatment devices is due not to magnetic effects on the fluid, but to the dissolution of small amounts of iron from the magnet or surrounding pipe into the fluid. Iron ions can suppress the rate of scale formation and encourage the growth of a softer scale deposit. Busch et al. (1986) measured the voltages produced by fluids flowing through a commercial magnetic treatment device. Their data support the hypothesis that a chemical reaction driven by the induced electrical currents may be responsible for generating the iron ions shown by Duffy to affect scale formation.
Finally, please think, and do some research before you fall for a scam. Yes, new products and technologies are constantly being developed, and some are really good. But do you honestly think that if something is truly great, it wouldn’t be all over the news and social media? Good things do not stay secret for long, and it is not likely that you would be the first to hear about something truly remarkable. If a product is good, and works, it sells itself. If anyone has to work too hard to get you to buy something, chances are the sale is good for them, but not for you.

“Get Limited Magnetic Laundry Guarantee New York laundry magnets how they work”

I read of, and duplicated, an experiment, where three loads of laundry were washed in a machinefor the same amount of time: one with detergent, one with plastic laundry balls, and one with nothing but clothes. Results: the detergent one smelled fresh, but the laundry ball one was also unsoiled and smelled clean. Surprising results: so was the one with nothing at all. Long term result: I use about a third of the recommended measurement of detergent, and pre soak anything with stains. Also, the cheap detergent seems to work just as well as the expensive stuff. I only use a good amount of soap if I’m hand washing a garment.
Just as the only way you can prove that your product actually works is to provide objective evidence that it cleans better than water alone, the only way you can prove that you actually care how your customers are treated is to sever your relationship with any distributor which is found to be cheating people.

A.  That depends on your definition of “clean” and “bright”. When comparing the usage of the MLS with laundry detergent, you need to factor in a few things. First of all, detergents are not soap. They are chemical surfactant petrochemicals derived directly from crude oil, and these chemicals are designed to not be completely rinsed out after washing your clothes. They leave behind what are called “optical brighteners” which are synthetic chemicals that reflect more light off the clothing to appear “brighter” to the eye. We do not believe that adding what are, in effect, chemical mirrors to a garment makes them cleaner. These synthetic chemicals convert UV light wavelengths into visible light, which makes laundered clothes appear whiter (although does not actually affect the cleanliness of the clothing). They’ve been found to be toxic to fish and to cause bacterial mutations. Furthermore, they can cause allergic reactions when exposed to skin that is later exposed to sunlight.
A.  Optical brighteners are not effective unless they remain on the fabric after washing, whereby they are constantly being breathed in, and touching and absorbing into your skin. Clothes washed in detergents containing these agents will have a potentially health threatening chemical residue left behind on the fabric. Frequently, skin rashes commonly blamed on fragrance and dyes are actually caused by optical brighteners, so optical brighteners should not be used by individuals with sensitive skin.
If you watch the video carefully, you will see that the tags on the two shirts they used were different, and therefore that the shirts themselves were different, thus invalidating the entire test.  Also, it’s impossible to tell from the video whether the two shirts were equally dirty to begin with (for some reason, they only give you a good look at one of the two shirts after soiling them).

None of these claims has any scientific basis and none has any credible experimental support. There is no scientific evidence that hydrocarbon (fuel) molecules can be modified in any way by application of a magnetic field.
Other readers pointed out numerous explanations for the fact that, in our tests, laundry balls seemed to work as well as regular detergent: (1) laundry often contains a lot of residual detergent from earlier washings; (2) the stain remover often recommended for use with laundry balls itself contains detergent; and (3) the laundry ball may work by mechanical action — the equivalent of beating clothes on a rock. And of course you can’t discount good old wishful thinking, which one suspects was a factor in the glowing evaluation by David Harris above.
Some products claim to have magnetic elements which “minimizes the size of the water molecule which helps with scale and rust removal of the washing machine and pipes”. The amount of bullshit in that phrase cannot be emphasised enough: making water molecules smaller would make any chemist laugh, or possibly start thinking about complex and ingenious ways to really achieve such a feat. Both claims are false from a proven scientific viewpoint; while magnets do interact with rust (the iron still has magnetic properties even when oxidised), and limescale may contain iron-containing compounds, magnets will not keep rust or limescale out of your laundry.
I saw the ad for the magnets the other day, and was tempted to buy them. The comments on the ad were glowing in praise. But the show-me skeptickism prevailed. Yes, it was shown to be too-good-to-be-true. Thanks for your testing methods!
The purpose of this Web page is to examine the scientific validity of the claims for magnetic products, especially those related to water, in order to help counter some of the sales hype that is rampant in this field and has given it something of a bad name. Many of these claims relate to scientific principles that are frequently mis-stated or are simply wrong, but which may not be recognized as such by those whose command of chemistry and physics is lacking. It is hoped that this information will help consumers to make their own informed decisions about the validity of these products.
Though skeptical, I was excited by the concept. I could possibly greatly reduce or even eliminate my detergent use.  So there could be considerable cost savings.  Second, part of what makes clothing hold stink is that those detergents don’t wash completely out of the fibers and hold on to the odor.  So perhaps I could eliminate odors. Third, people with chemical sensitivities could greatly benefit from going detergent free.  Fourth, I wouldn’t need to figure out which detergents to buy, which ones to use for what loads, which ones changed their formulas, etc.  It would be easy to know I’ve reduced my environmental footprint, as well as reduced my mental energy running a load of laundry.
For anyone that is confused or angry because they use the magnets and they “work,” you’re probably just better off using them and ignoring these sort of pages. More power to you. There is much more factual evidence provided by this author than by the manufacturer of these magnets. By the way, if you have any physicist or engineering friends, just hand the box to them and watch their face. I’m sure you’ll see the B.S. meter light up instantly in their eyes. Trust the guys who do this for a living and actually understand physics, chemistry, scientific method, etc. This product stinks like a rat.
Perhaps you missed the part where the manufacturers of the Magnetic Laundry System paid an independent laboratory to test the effectiveness of their product and then refused to release the full results of that testing, the results which would have actually proven whether their product cleans clothes any better than plain water.
